Bought a mattress from the Bay and paid for delivery, mattress pick up (the one I currently own) and assembly for my bed frame. The delivery men had a 6 hour window to deliver my mattress and still came 4 hours late - I waited a total of 10 hours to get my mattress. When it was finally delivered, the men left the bed frame in my hallway unassembled and were going to leave without taking my old bed and bed frame. When I told them they said they don't know what I'm taking about, but finally took my mattress when I offered to show them my receipt (they still left my bed frame unassembled in the hallway). When I called customer service to complain they told me: 1. The fee I paid did not include assembly and the sales associate either lied to me or is not trained properly because the delivery men do not assemble anything if tools are involved. 2. The delivery men were fully aware that they were supposed to put everything in my room and take away my mattress. They are a 3rd party company and tend to lie so they don't have to do as much work. Apparently this is a common problem. The Bay first offered me $45 as compensation but eventually gave me $60. I would NEVER buy from them again. I would have paid that $60 for them to do their jobs properly - from the sales associate to the delivery men. Do not buy furniture and pay for delivery from the Bay unless you want this kind of service: lying sales associates and incompetent delivery men.

Dispute having evolved to a chic and upscale ( and expensive) store, I would ALWAYS go back--as a loyal Canadian; if it meant just to preserve the oldest company on the north American Continent. I always find something unique there. Their green, red, yellow, & black striping on their textiles is iconic.

This store claimed to have 25% sale on Breville coffee machines .. there is one particular espresso machines I was interested to buy the $799 (before sale) one. Interesting enough this particular coffee machine shows up as available in three branches (Rideau, St Laurent and Bayshore) but when I get there and ask for it they make a big fuss about it and they go around in circles and at the end they simply say they don’t have it, and tell me to check with a different store, I go to another store and I see the same behaviour. I believe they have instructions to pull this item out of the shelves and lie to customers about their sale.

Store is lacking in the number of sales associates compared to Nordstrom and Simons. The ones I do end up finding give off the impression that they're not interested in being there. I would rather pay more by shopping at other stores that strive to maintain a higher standard for customer service.

No number or extension for the post office. Absolutely no department picks up the phone. I flew to Ottawa from Toronto, drove downtown to the post office faster than my call was answered. Pathetic. I even called the Managers and Assistant Managers extension. These types of stores are annoying to do business with.
