Beautiful views, excellent well marked trails with educational signs. Huge sand dunes you can explore. The steps/stairway is a bit intimidating. I recommend if you have bad knees/hips/heart that you proceed with caution. But once you conquer it it will be a memory to remember. Also great statue and other things to look at.

This whole experience was not only beautiful, but educational and kind of mind blowing! I would definitely recommend, going and learning the history of the lumber men. You get to learn the very details of life back then while on your adventure. Everything is very well maintained. It's also a stunning drive to get to the park. The stairs are worth the climb, the overlooks/sights you get are gorgeous! Absolutely breathtaking in some spots. The nature and scenery is peaceful and enjoyable. A must-visit little treasure in Oscoda!

The feeling you get running down the sand dunes is so worth the climb back up. Watching the sunset here is amazing!

Great place to take the family for a nice outdoor educational adventure! I’ve been here multiple times, it’s always fun. They parks department does a great job at maintaining and improving the park. There is a nice new stair case (a long ways down) that will take you to the river. Where you can see what the lumbermen used to stay on when on the river. Staff here is friendly and eager to tell you the history of the nation forest. Parking is close to the monument. The park has a lot of plaques that give you every little detail of a lumberman’s life, from his tools, to the dangers of the job. If you’re in the area I would definitely recommend stopping here for some great photos and education.

Great place to spend a few hours. Had some live music playing when we visited. Check out the trail to the sand hill where they used to roll timber into to river.
