I was unaware that this restaurant only accepts cash or a "local" Nevada County check or I would have gone somewhere else. This was a business trip for me and I was looking for a restaurant near the courthouse.  It was also my first time ever in Nevada City. Nice day and food was fine, but I consider them very backwards. I had to dig out $100 bill that formerly belonged to a friend of mine who died last year and I really didn't want to spend it this way. No "to go" cups either -- and the parking meter was running. Unbelievable.

Terrible Service. The waiters were extremely rude.  Waited to get a table while there were 5 available. The waiter said that they were not ready to seat more people because others have not received their meal yet. However, a logical process would be to seat everyone if you have the available space. I'm sorry you cannot cook fast enough-that is your problem. It takes time for people to pick what they want off a menu. To top that off, we were not allowed to see a menu until we were seated. Quite ridiculous. The food was severely undercooked and overly salted. I had to ask for new Silverware because mine still had FOOD on it. Unsanitary! This is a valued place among some people...I was extremely disappointed. It was basically like a chain-time food. Very Average. I would definitely recommend going to other places to eat near by. To top it off, we didn't know they do not accept credit cards. Instead of the waiter or someone who worked there say where we could find an ATM, she just said we "need to find cash quick". Yeah? I would recommend to this "restaurant" to alert people of this issue prior to seating. I really did not want to leave any tip but we did.

Southern comfort food! Wonderful little restaurant. We were glad to find this on our road trip, and will go again if were ever in the area. This place has a very bohemian atmosphere, and the food was excellent.  I posted our meals, which were the Laughing Chicken, Shrimp Po Boy. Our nephew got the strawberries and cream waffles. All of it was high-quality.

A wonderful choice for a special treat. I particularly enjoyed sitting outside on a pleasant day in the courtyard and watching the world go by in this quaint little town. Good food and service.

I love this place!!! Great food .gluten free .The head chief is a true craftsman of his trade. Much love to you Ike & family.
