Sifu Chen is an amazing instructor for kids and adults alike! The kids learn a lot here about being in shape and self discipline. Good stuff!
I have two kids practicing Kung Fu in this school. We really like the masters and the friendly environment. Masters are very patient to students, nice and warm and are indeed strict when teaching. Kung Fu is every physically demanding, but my kids keep good interest so far. They learned a lot of Kung Fu moves and become more and more confident and are always looking forward to playing in School Talent Show. After they won some medals in the competitions, they are working very hard and want to do better next year. This school won the most number of medals in the event international Chinese martial art championship and most of them are in the first place. The masters in this school are awesome. We appreciate their excellent teaching and huge impact on my kids. After practiced there a while, I can see my kids eat better, sleep better, behave better, and grade better too! I strongly recommend this Kung Fu school.
Master Chen is consummate in his knowledge and practice of Kung Fu, Tai Chi and QiGong and that in and of itself commands the respect and devotion of his students. However, he is also a skilled and personable teacher with students ranging from 4 years old to over 50 years old keeping their interest while he develops their skills and fosters self-respect and self-discipline. My 7 year old son has some special needs making it hard for me to just enroll him in any other kinds of classes or trainings. I've mostly had to use the Park District so I can get an aide from WSDRA to get him to gain anything from a class. Master Chen has been able to keep his interest and attention and work with him regardless of some of his sensory and communication difficulties and he is blossoming. He just earned his white belt! Not only that, the school offers good value for what they give and will give any student a solid foundation for any other endeavor in life. I highly recommend his school for anyone regardless of ability or age.
Authentic Kung Fu. These masters have traveled the world exhibiting their moves. They are great teachers and were critical to helping us learn. I have tried Kung Fu, Tai Chi and San Dal. All I would recommend. I have been attending Illinois Shaolin Kung Fu with my son since 2010. This school is authentic Chinese and amazing. We are both completed our black belt testing recently. It would not be possible without the excellent teaching that goes on in this school. Grand Master Chen and his assistants are patient, attentive and ensure safety. I feel like the instructors are personally invested to help me succeed but they still push to do my best. Master Chen's teaching has been instrumental to my health. He encourages us to focus on a health as well as Kung Fu. With his influence and the exercise in these classes, I have lost forty pounds. Others have lost over 100+ pounds. It is great exercise because it is challenging mentally and physically. Because of the mental challenge, the classes fly by quickly unlike other types of exercises where you ask yourself, how much longer. Classes - These classes are great for learning different forms as well as different types of instruments such as straight sword, broadsword, basic staff and spear. Safety is very important to Grand Master Chen so these are all safe to use not sharp. It is incredible to think that I know how to use these. I thought only Bruce Lee could do that!!! San Da - these classes are well structured mix of kicks and punches. Much focus is on fighting form, stance, and moving quickly. We are constantly working on combinations and have time to even practice in a safe manner under Grand Master Chen's careful referring. This is where it all comes together and at the end of each, my son or I repeatedly say "Did you see that, I can't believe I did that!!". Tai Chi - Another great set of class that you can learn different forms in slow motion. It is great for mind and body regardless of age. I have been in an Illinois Shaolin class with one person who is 90+ years old. If Master Chen can help this person to do it, I am confident he can help me learn Tai Chi also!!!
Great place to learn authentic Shaolin Kung Fu. The master is very patient and knowledgeable and will push you to improve. Opportunities for performances are available once you reach a certain level if that's something you want to do. Great coach and great people come here to practice and make friends
Master Song is a top Kungfu master not just because his skills are outstanding but more importantly, he knows how to teach his skills to his students. He spends time in designing personalized training for each of his students. Master Song’s unique training method has created a relaxing environment in the Wushu Kung Fu school and keeps student’s confidence and interest at all times as well. During his teaching at my school, his Kung Fu and teaching techniques were welcomed by all of our students and have really improved their Kung Fu skills to a new level in a very short period of time
I think it is a good experience. You have to go there knowing that it will be hard. You won't be as good as the other students there for about a year or two. Master Chen is very dedicated. He will help you get the moves right. Master Gao is younger and more easy going. But they both are good teachers in their own way.
Master Chen has always taught our children well. It is amazing what he can get the children to do. He does a great job of getting them to believe in themselves.
Classes offered are of high quality. The teacher is very very good at training people of different levels and ages. Pleasantly surprised. So happy of knowing this place.
