Due to a lack of cleanliness, no children's room availability anymore, warm when working out, and no one is ever available when I call or go in, we are cancelling our membership. This gym is poorly ran and I can't even get a hold of someone to cancel my membership. I have called them the last 2week's, left a VM, and went in a couple times and no one has been there. I would not recommend this gym.
My daughter and I have been members at Fitness Advantage for four years and are very happy there. The employees are very friendly and helpful. They always greet you with a smile and always say "have a good day" when you leave. They work very hard to keep everything clean and sanitary. They have helpful advice when you feel your workout is becoming too mundane. They have helped and encouraged me to better myself many times. Especially Melissa the general manager, without her encouragement my workouts would not have produced the progress I am seeing. Basically, they treat you like family and keep the entire gym very clean. Bonus they are open 24/7, you can work out on your schedule not someone else's!
Good luck trying to cancel your membership! I have been a customer here for 6 years. The gym has declined exponentially. Multiple dumbbells have been missing for weeks, and the place is always trashed. I have been trying to cancel my membership for 2 months, but the place is never staffed anymore. They also double charged me for several months and wouldn't return my money. There are much better alternatives in Oswego.
This is a pretty good gym. If you don't care about the old defective equipment sitting up front. The machines are decently taken care of and they have a great set of free weights 2.5-120 2 sets each except for 90+ so that's great. The only downside of the gym is the people... if you are younger looking to workout it's not the best. Lots of older people here who do one set and sit around and don't actually workout half the time. And the men to women ratio is probably 10-1 so if your a girl looking to meet friends here you would be better off going to LA fitness or planet fitness. But it's insanely cheap 24-7 and weights are weights so
I've called three days in a row in regards to my account being charged the regular gym fee $27 when my account was actually on freeze $10. Each time I called back I was told that I would be contacted later in the day to speak with the manager, however,I never received any calls and they claimed to have called me three times. Decent gym equipment, bad customer service.
The greatest feature of this gym is that it’s 24/7. Other than that it’s maintained poorly, equipment is constantly misplace or even missing, and it’s dirty. My clothes get dirty from the dumbells, and it’s not even the dumbells i want, all the 30 lbs are gone, they’ve been stolen and haven’t been replaced in months. There’s also a corner with broken equipment, and they’ve been their for years despite the GM saying he’ll get rid of them. Staff just sit up front doing nothing. Would not recommend.
This used to be a very nice local gym to belong to. I don’t know what is going on now! There is so much old broken down equipment just laying around. I’ve been trying to get in touch with someone for weeks now & I have not had any luck. I’m looking to cancel my membership but can’t get a live person on the line. I wouldn’t recommend anyone spending their money here. Look for a better gym with visible staff.
I would definitely review to the contrary of some of these posts. I've been a member of various health facilities over the years and F.A. is definitely my favorite, & for many reasons at that. As soon as you walk in, the scent is fresh and just clean, which it obviously would with all the cleaning you see the staff constantly doing. Then you're welcomed by a friendly staff, which ANY time I've had a question or concern they've handled promptly and efficiently. Then the GM has to be the most passionate person about both her job & fitness in general I've ever seen running a gym. She's extremely knowledgeable & is always on top of things making this place feel more like a home away from home & no than just another business.
DO NOT SIGN UP HERE. Basically stole money from me and it sounds like I'm not the first person this has happened to. I was a member of this gym and signed up with two of my friends on an account. A few months later I had to cancel my account because I was moving. When I was canceling my account I told them I would like the entire account cancelled including my two friend's memberships. About two months later I noticed that Fitness Advantage had still been charging me for one member on my account so I called to clear up the mistake. After being told they would call me back once a manager was present and failing to call me back multiple times I finally got a manager to pick up the phone when I called. The manager was rude and informed me that there was nothing they could do and that it was somehow my fault for not canceling properly the cancellation process was them handing me a form stating that I wanted to cancel, and me signing it. Not sure how I could do that wrong.... She also told me that the only way I could cancel was to personally come into the gym to cancel the account again. I no longer live in the area so trying to make me drive over an hour just to come to the gym personally is ridiculous. After a lot of arguing she said she would "make an exception" and accept a hand written letter mailed to the gym stating that I want the account to be canceled in full. They kept my two extra months gym membership fees and reluctantly closed my account after receiving the letter. I will tell anyone thinking of signing up for this gym to go ANYWHERE else. I hope the two months charges they stole from me was worth it.
The Manager, Ricky, is a horrible person. Buddy charged me for a month while my pass was not working. When I asked to be reimbursed for the month that he charged me, he told me "no refunds." He said, "I'll give you a refund if you get out." I told him "I do not want to be giving my money to someone who treats their customers like this." I am going to join the YMCA or LA Fitness instead. I liked the equipment, but I am not going to continue giving my money to rude people.
