The women at the front desk are VERY rude, specifically the older woman. a phone rang in the office and the lady assumed it was my phone. She barked on me about not using a cellphone, when it was the person beside me that didnt even answer the call! The older woman also told me completely different information from the IRS phone customer service. I lost my W2 copy and the ladies at the front told me the only way for me to get a copy of my W2 was to refile my taxes!!! The other lady just agreed with her as if she was stating facts! They also told me I needed to file an ammendment, I was told by the telephone customer service representative that was not true.

I called the IRS because I had not yet received my refund. They had sent me a letter that I never received because my apartment number was left off. I scheduled an appointment in advance. I arrived at the scheduled time and only had to wait 5 - 10 min. I brought all the forms I was instructed to bring with me and I was taken care of quickly even though I did not have the letter they tried to send me. The lady who checked me in and the one who confirmed my identity were both kind and professional. The reason my return was flagged such that I had to make a physical trip to the IRS was because my company was subject to phishing and employee information was compromised. Therefore, they flagged our tax returns to make sure we were not subject to identity theft. (It probably helped that I went there in the off-season as far as taxes go ---August and not April/May/June.)

Didn't have an appointment because we are from Canada and phone number will not go through. Shoutout To Lynette at the main reception 11th floor for taking care of us. Very much appreciated! Wonderful employee.

Receptionist very rude. I was within the grace period for being late and she would not allow me to keep my appointment. She needs to be reprimanded or fired!

The Detroit IRS department is one of the worst place I've ever been. The service was awful. The field assistant wasn't polite at all. She had attitude issue with us for the whole period of time. I won't recommend anyone to visit there. If you have any other option please do so..........
