Japonessa Sushi Cocina

My wife and I love going on sushi dates at Japonessa when we can. This is a newer branch compared to the one in Downtown Seattle but the taste is consistent to the other branch. Aside from their great food, the place has a really nice casual but swanky ambiance. You must go to their happy hour and try their skin on skin and Seattle rolls!

Traveling for work and was in the mood for Sushi. This place was recommended by a friend. Food is awesome. Service was friendly and timely, considering we were there during primetime eating hours. I only dropped a star because they completely forgot about my soup and just brought out my food when the rest of my party was served theirs. Other than that, it was good and filling. Lots of options. I have officially forgotten the name of every roll. Meh, you’ll figure it out. Enjoy!

Here for the happy hour. Food and drinks are great. They come out fast, you can still sit at the bar without a reservation. Great place to visit when you crave sushi and great cocktails/sake.

Tuesday happy hour: Parking can be a nightmare...but don't worry, they validate with the parking structure! Got seated right away which was nice. Other than that, it started going downhill. Our server would only come when we were able to flag him down so we barely saw him. Besides that he was polite and prompt. Food was on the pricier side for happy hour but that's expected. Miso was 3 dollars... but it's also that price off happy hour so ???. The salmon in my Seattle roll was so sad looking and some pieces had a tiny sliver. Wouldn't want to come back... Food: 5/10 Service: 5/10 Experience: 6/10 Value: 5/10

Had a great dinner here with a little of everything. My favorite part was the tuna tataki; I would order it EVERY time. The salad app and sushi rolls were definitely up to standard for Japonessa. Great sake list too!

I am not a fan of sushi but this place is so different. I should admit that I went to this place to just review for all of you that give my reviews lots of love and support. I was observing everything here first of all the owner Olivia she is beautiful inside and out she is smart and super professional she cares about her customer I saw her serving her customers even though they had enough servants she was not kind of bossy person that doesn’t do anything she was so supportive of her crew and super nice and friendly with her guests you feel she is a real host I was lucky to meet Ben their general manager he came to my table and after he introduced himself he apologized for the technical issue they had earlier with their payment system that of course it was fixed but he was so polite and super professional to come to me and explained again I mean WOW SUCH A GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE Thank you Ben Come to the good part Chef Albert is now in Bellevue location so for those of you who are looking for a professional sushi chef here you go I sat behind the sushi bar and had a chance to talk to him He was so busy but he was so kind and super friendly he was talking to his guests and made the environment cozy and happy Chef Albert thank you so much for your awesome personality I asked him if he is ok to post his picture for you so you also know the chef and he kindly accepted They have a generous happy hour for sushi lovers They also offer good drinks Inside vibe is great for family and friends gathering I was looking at other people and made some friends with whoever sat next to me . Yes I was there for long time to collect the best review and I asked other customers about how they like their food and all of them were happy with their choice There is a reason this place has over 1500k reviews You know I am a local guide and I am posting reviews for 6 years and you know I care about details so when I say their customer service is a wow I mean it Friendly staff “even when they are busy” Restrooms were clean They sanitizes everything after each customer even the soy bottle!!! The price is on higher end but you are paying for best quality and chef Albert’s art that makes you a plate like an amazing mural!!! You can see the kitchen from the sushi bar and you gonna see how clean everything is One of best experience I tried bad boy roll 24$ And other drinks I listed the menus I didn’t like my drink was tasteless for me next time I will try Mango cocktail I tried lots of Michelin stars restaurants and I know what being professional means and I see the potential for this place Thank you Olivia and her team

My favorite place to get sushi! Staff was super friendly and a wonderful place for a date. I highly recommend going for happy hour but if not don’t worry because they have an amazing selection of signature rolls and other things.

Great atmosphere and food : The sashimi was fatty and tasted fresh. The “ultimate dragon” roll’s eel component was delicious. The alcoholic drink “flight to Japan” wasn’t distinct but very pretty in presentation. Servers checked on us frequently and were friendly. Only downside might be the crowded seating inside.

I've picked up dinner here twice. My latest visit was today for a Valentine's Day dinner. I ordered the Valentine's sprcial which included the chef's choice omakase, a selection of one of three special rolls I chose the tres diablos, strawberry pistachio cake, and a bottle of wine. The presentation of everything was beautiful and I was thoroughly happy with the quality of the sushi. This place tends to have a more Americanized style of sushi that is fun, varied, and flavorful with spiciness i.e. habanero sauce and sweetness i.e. strawberry sauce, as well as great garnishings. I also found the staff to be friendly. Meanwhile the indoor dining experience is perfect for a meaningful date. I would say that of all the Bellevue sushi restaurants I'd rank Minamoto's as one notch above Japonessa, but this is certainly one of the best restaurants in the area.

Great place to unwind and have fresh delicious made seafood. What more can I say about the staff at this location. The staff is very attentive and on point. No wait at all for anything you asked. Well managed. The meet all our needs. Food 5 star. Staff 5 star. Love the outside seating.
