This is a solid donut shop. Definitely among the top 10 in terms of donut shops in Columbus. They have a great selection of standard donuts and they also have some specialty donuts that are pretty unique. They also have other baked goods besides donuts like creme horns and log cakes. They also have little paper hats that you can give to your kid or wear yourself... either way this is a fun shop and it's open 24/7 also which is awesome.
Okay dude straight up this wast first time eating here and I was not disappointed! This little was so good! The donuts were delicious and the whole feel of the restaurant was very comfortable. I really enjoyed it
We have had great experiences here since moving to Columbus last summer, and the apple fritter today was fresh still warm and out of this world! However, today the quality of the donuts in general was much lower. One with sprinkles for my son was as hard as a rock and pretty much inedible. Several of the others had obviously been on the shelf for a while too. I'd recommend asking the staff about freshness before you buy a whole dozen. I certainly will next time.
Use to best some of the best donuts around, now they are just trash. I keep giving this place chances thinking they maybe were just off one morning or I got a bad batch. But I am disappointed every single time. The Long John’s which use to be the go to are now about 3 inches long, deformed, icing just slapped all over the place and barely any filling inside. You might get a couple pockets, and even those are bursting out the sides, but that’s about it. You guys should be ashamed of yourself for marking up the price of donuts and then serving terrible products. There is no reason there’s shouldn’t be fresh donuts first thing in the morning. The donuts are often cold and stale like they’ve been refrigerated from the day before. Most reputable donut shops will mark down their “day old” donuts just in case someone wants to pay a little less for something not as fresh. But not Jolly Pirate, they charge you an insane amount of money for those donuts and act like they’re fresh. Either fix what people are complaining of or just shut back down for good. Because you’re just ruining the good Jolly Pirate name.
Jolly Pirate, please take note of reviews like this one: "The doughnuts have changed, and not for the better. They used to be lighter and fluffier and bigger. Now they are smaller, denser, and the texture isn't light and airy." I feel the exact same way. I keep returning hoping for the quality to return, thinking I received a bad batch...but this just seems to be the product you're putting out? Small, weirdly dense and doughy...and don't last. They're terrible compared to the product we all expect from JP. I began looking for reviews to see if it was safe to return...but the review above is from 2 weeks ago, so I know it's not. You're going to lose all your regular customers. Word going around Grove City is that the quality isn't going to return. Please prove everyone wrong...GP used to be the BEST donut shop...I drive by on my way to work every morning...please give me a reason to stop!!
Every time I get to Grove City I feel like I need to stop at Jolly Pirate! I love the Buttermilk Clump donut with all its crispy nooks and crannies! The only thing better was when they made the Sour Cream Clump. I love the selection of donuts and other pastries. The service has always been friendly as well. I'll be back!
I come from Springfield, OH where Schuler’s is the best around…I think this light beat Schuler’s! I got a baker’s dozen for around $12. The woman who boxed my donuts was VERY helpful and friendly! She welcomed me and thanked me for coming. So far, I made a mess in the car eating a powdered banana cream donut and it was SO SOFT and delicious, I didn’t care about the mess I made. My husband tried the chocolate overload and he said it was very good. My kids each had the cake donuts and liked them! The best part is they are open 24 hours. We WILL be back!
Donuts were pretty good and had a great assortment. Coffee tasted like hot water. Staff wasn't overly friendly or helpful being our first time here. Tables and counters were a little dirty.
This experience was so amazing for my family! This is a family owned business I will be supporting often!
8/20/2022 about 2:45 went in to get my donuts replaced from the night before because they where completely stale . So went in today after talking to a manger saying we can come back & they will replace them . As we go in & explain what we needed a very rude employee with brown hair , glasses & medium high my was externally rude ! Told us we could only get the donuts that where out in the open not down in the case even though we had 2 donuts that came from the case then fingers the old donuts saying they weren't stale . Told us if we didn't like what she could do then we could leave . On top of pour customer service she gave us none of the donuts we had in the boxes that we brought back in . This lady / employee needs a better customer service attitude & also needs to know the difference between a custard & boston cream & she said it's the same & it is not boston cream is a pastry filling as to where custard is not ! Very disappointed with this service & i will not be coming back to jolly pirates again . Very very poor customer service !
