Dirty beach, strewn with garbage left by disrespectful visitors and from LA's sewer, aka Pacific ocean. The breakwater prevents waves larger than 2 feet. Home to 100s of transients, mostly men, make sure to keep an eye out after dark. Like most of the city, the beautification and gentrification is just a facade. It's like putting lipstick on a pig. Crime us up. Do not leave a bicycle anywhere, no matter what lock you have. It will get stolen. There is a camera on the lifeguard station but the police can't be bothered to use it, or even admit the camera exists (my personal experience). The beach is 'open' until 10, but expect the bathrooms locked by 8, leaving those in need little option but use the beach. The bike path is nice, but as the light fades be prepared to encounter thieves and throngs of mentally unstable characters.

Great beach, plenty of parking. Ice cream truck close to water, great for walking, biking and roller skating.

Nothing but heinous manifestation of an overt disregard to their duties showed by the municipal authorities in charge. Warning! It's dangerous in the late afternoon or dusk time. Restrooms are spoiled the feces spread over on its floors. We've been attacked once by an aggressive individual. I was forced to expose a pistol gun in return.

You have a choice of grass or sand. They have  bathrooms. It is not crowded ecept during the Forth of July.
