When I went here in 1981, it changed my life, but not in a good way. When I was in B unit, the counselors would make inmates fight in the middle of the quad (which happened to me), if the inmates had a conflict. One of the inmates, who was developmentally challenged, was forced to fight another inmate, who though not developmentally challenged, was physically weaker. I later heard the smaller boy was injured, which led to the firing of the counselor, a Vietnam vet (don't know if it is true; I fortunately never came back to B unit to verify). I would describe my time here as alternating between mind-numbing boredom and sheer terror. Not recommended.

Correcting juveniles in a facility that needs correcting of it's adults from seniors all down the line is pointless, unjust and evil in most cases. It is easier to raise strong children than to fix broken adults but breaking children before they have the chance to become adults is just wicked. I only hope karma comes fast and hard. One day the roots of our ancestors trees will break through all this concrete and pavement and the cars and trucks that feed these demonds will no longer be able to pass... Starving the beast that lives in their hearts and souls. Duece.

A few months ago, I went to the Hall to interview a prospective client. After driving all the way out, and being told by probation that I would be allowed to visit, and waiting outside the night entrance, I was denied entry. Because I was not "the attorney of record", even though the family knew I was to visit, and the potential client knew. FAIL on the part of the Sheriff's office. I have worked in other counties, and have never been denied entry to see a client, when I was ALREADY the attorney of record. Flash forward a few weeks after I was retained. I go to visit client on a sunday evening, and AGAIN I am denied entry, because it is not visiting hours/convenient to Sheriff's office. FAIL AGAIN for the sheriff. Memo to Sheriff: being detained in the Juvenile Hall is not convenient. Having to drive out at night for a client interview is not convenient.
