The Youth and Family Services Bureau (YFSB) has a variety of programs to support community members who are facing serious life challenges or who are in contact with the criminal justice system.
OUR CLINIC
Licensed YFSB therapists and interns work with youth, children, adults, couples and families. We are dedicated to helping clients solve immediate problems and return to their lives with greater ease and sense of control.
We use culturally sensitive, solution-focused, and strength-based approaches to help resolve challenges including:
-Family, couple, and parenting conflicts
-Transitioning out of jail or prison
-Addiction and substance use issues
-Academic and behavioral problems
-Violence, trauma, and abuse
-Bullying
-Gang involvement
-Anxiety, depression, and other emotional challenges
-Juvenile offender diversion counseling
-Employment, legal and financial issues
Se habla Espanol.
We accept Medi-Cal, many private insurances, and have an affordable sliding fee scale. If you are a crime victim, you may also be eligible for free counseling through the Victim of Crime (VOC) program. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
OPERATION MY HOME TOWN (OMHT) RE-ENTRY PROGRAM
YFSB understands that former offenders who have the resources to meet basic needs and are motivated to take steps towards creating a more constructive life will be less likely to commit crimes and go back to jail and prison.
OMHT Case Managers connect with people while they are still incarcerated to help plan for their needs and goals upon release. Linkage is provided to programs inside the jail and to outside housing, employment, family supports, legal advocacy, drug and alcohol treatment, health care, recreational activities, educational resources, and social services.
DEPUTY SHERIFF'S ACTIVITY LEAGUE (DSAL)
Free youth recreational and development opportunities such as sports (soccer, swimming, boxing, and basketball), community service (such as Green Day and Silence the Violence) and fun activities such as poetry slams, bingo, open mike, and others are available through our partnership with DSAL.
Please email Hilary Bass at [email protected] to learn more about these activities and how to sign up to participate.
DIG DEEP FARMS AND PRODUCE
Job training and employment may be available through our partnership with Dig Deep Farms and Produce, an 8 acre urban farm that employs local residents and grows fresh, organic fruits and vegetables within our own urban community.
REACH Ashland Youth Center
YFSB partners with the new REACH Ashland Youth Center providing counseling and support services. REACH opened in April 2013 and provides free recreation; education; arts and culture; career and employment; and health and wellness activities and resources to Alameda County youth ages 11-24.
