Story

Kent Falls State Park is a public recreation area located in the town of Kent, Connecticut, within a region of the southern Berkshires known as the Litchfield Hills. The state park is home to Kent Falls, a series of waterfalls on Falls Brook, a tributary of the Housatonic River. The falls drop in under a quarter mile. The largest cascade drops more than into a reflecting pool, before traveling over the lesser falls.HistoryThe Indian name of the falls is Scatacook, and there is evidence that the area was used by Native Americans for fishing and camping. Mills stood along the brook during colonial times. Kent Falls was established as a state park after of land was given to the state in 1919 as a gift from the White Memorial Foundation. Workers with the Civil Works Administration contributed to the park's development in the 1930s, and in the 1970s, trail reconstruction was done by the Youth Conservation Corps of America. In 2006, observation platforms were constructed along a trail next to the falls, while at the base of the falls, a terraced observation area paved with native flag stones was created to allow access to a calm water wading pool.

Absolutely love this place! Gorgeous views of the falls. It's a state park, so there's an entrance fee, but free in the winter. The stairs and steps going up the side of the falls are steep and not meant for anyone with difficulties walking. In my opinion. You can get a great view at the bottom though. There's places to cook hotdogs and eat lunch. Plus a large field to play Frisbee or throw the ball around.

Beautiful place to visit. Have picnic tables and restrooms. When you visit you should definitely take the hike up the trail which will take you all the way to the top of the falls. The walk up there will take about 20 minutes.

Just like a regular park, what makes this park unique from other parks out there? It's waterfall and mountains makes it unique than others. If you walk up to the mountain then you will have a great view . Other than that it has nothing. One more thing. If you go there then summer will be the best option. I went in winter thats why couldn't get the feel of waterfall. If you in summer then you will enjoy more than those people who go in winter.

Well worth seeing not to big. Lots of picnic tables with w/c extension. Was able to take pics at bottom of falls. Trail goes to top of falls if you are up to it. Beautiful fall colors Service gives 2 paws up. The drive up to park is almost even more beautiful. I would go for just the drive.

Great place to go for a nice walk. Did not try any of the more rugged, woodsy, trails. I did go up the giant stairs up the waterfall and the little bit of trail behind the waterfall though, and it was a very nice scenic walk.
