The only communication you should expect here is how much money you owe them up front. My son had surgery with Dr. Van Metre. He lied to me the day of the procedure about being able to be in the room when my son woke up. After the procedure he gave me instructions, which were not quite the same as what the discharging nurse told me. (What the nurse said actually made more sense). A few days later my son had complications serious enough to result in a visit to the ER.. His instructions said to take him to a specific ER if there were problems, which we did, only to be told that they can't admit pediatric patients so we had to be sent to UK by ambulance from there. We sat and waited for hours for assistance for my son and were eventually told they were trying to reach Dr. Van Metre before deciding what to do. I finally told them to deal with it there because I was not going to wait all day on someone who can't return calls. Any time I tried to reach them for anything I was sent through various different voice mails or sent to the wrong person altogether. A very unprofessional office and surgeon in my opinion.

I sought out Kentucky Ear, Nose & Throat following a persistent case of strep throat that was resistant to three antibiotic treatments. I was a new patient and they got me in the very next day after I called, which I greatly appreciated! Dr. VanMeter made me feel very comfortable and explained everything that was going on with my throat. He explained about how as we age our tonsils can flair up and recommend a tonsillectomy, which I have planned with him in the near future. He was very nice and helped calm and of my fears about being under anesthesia and discussed what type of recovery time I should expect. His staff was super friendly and very professional. They asked for my insurance which I presented without an issue. There were no issues scheduling my pre-op appointment or my surgery. Thanks KY ENT!

Doctor was not friendly at all. Rest of staff was. I went with a 2 yr old and doctor did not speak to him at all. Got onto him for taking a flyer, saying he needed that for his patients. He physically and forcefully opened my sons mouth with both hands because he wouldnt open his mouth for him. I had brought information from his pediatrician and he said hatefully, i dont need that, i just need to know when his last ear infection was and what medication he was on. Also had pictures of allergic reactions and he didnt wanna see those either. Not satisfied and will not be going back

I like the staff here very much, but if you're a patient prepare to be hounded at checkout for immediate payment. I have a funded HRA attached to my insurance policy and stated this upon checkout. However, I was questioned so much it made me exceedingly uncomfortable, and afterward I arranged a three-way conference call with their billing clerk and a rep from my insurance provider to confirm the accuracy of my statements. I did not want to be questioned so harshly on future visits. I understand there is a need for payment policies, but I've never encountered one so strict and enforced with (at times) such rudeness and borderline hostility.
