Last night Wednesday, September 21st, was Friends & Family dinner for their soft pre-opening! I can't believe I got so caught up in dinner and the company that I forgot to snap a photo of my entrée. We shared all 5 of their dips offered. I also enjoyed their raw oysters dish 6 oysters to the order. I had The Zephyr cocktail and shared a bottle of wine with a friend after speaking with sommelier Chris. My favorite red wine is a Cabernet Sauvignon, Stag's Leap, but the wine menu for this restaurant has been tailored to their Mediterranean flavors. Chris was able to consider my wine preferences and those my friend enjoys, and he recommended two. We chose a Spanish red from those recommendations, and it was delicious! Mason did a great job tending to our table, carrying away dishes, checking cocktails, topping off water. He explained the menu and elaborated on flavors when asked. It was a really enjoyable dinner overall, and the company helped heighten the experience. For dessert I enjoyed the toffee pudding a la mode. Sooo scrumptious. Husband's serving of toffee pudding sans a la mode had a bit of cumin that somehow entered the pudding, so that left a bad taste in his mouth for a bit, and the Fattoush Chopped didn't get rave reviews from the table, but overall, it was a rather lovely meal.
We had some amazing eats here. We started with the trio dip. I could have eaten my weight in the whipped goat cheese with the apricot puree on top. The steak and eggs were some of the best in the city. Also had the lobster Cobb, which was delicious. Add in the tasty bloody Marys and we were quite happy. Definitely worth checking out and we'll definitely be back.
The service was great even when dining on a busy night. The octopus was my favorite bite of the night. I loved the atmosphere it was casual with an upbeat feel.Recommended dishesMediterranean Branzino, Artichokes & Calamari, Galician Octopus
Kini’s has rolled out brunch on Saturdays & Sundays from 10am - 3pm. Kini’s is one of my favorite restaurants so you best believe the girls and I were there first thing on Saturday to give brunch a try. We arrived at Kini’s and valeted the car - Kini’s is located in the Clayton Hotel in Cherry Creek. We headed inside and were seated in a front booth. The restaurant’s aesthetic was that of a Greek coastal town with white wisteria blooms, light woods, blues & an overall warm ambiance. Kini’s staff was fabulous per usual - General Manager, Taylor and our server, Casey took amazing care of us. Casey led us through brunch with stellar recommendations & great energy. For cocktails, the four of us ordered the Endless Spritz for $20 meaning it was bottomless and had our pick of 4 flavors - Sumac, Passionfruit, Strawberry and Citrus. I loved that with the Endless Spritz order we were able to switch between flavors throughout our meal. I started with the Citrus Spritz. The Citrus Spritz was comparable to an effervescent lemonade. It was really refreshing and I enjoyed it. Jaclyn and Ally went for the Strawberry Spritz. The Strawberry Spritz was bursting with fresh and fruity flavor that was nuanced by bittersweet aperol. Maddie did the Sumac Spritz. The Sumac Spritz was made with vodka and had a delightfully lemony-tart flavor that sparkled on the tongue. The Sumac ended up being my favorite spritz. For Plates we had the Avocado Sliders made with mascarpone. The sliders were delicious. The bread rolls were generously buttered and nicely toasted. The avocado mascarpone spread was creamy with assertive pops of salt and spice. For Dips we had the Whipped Goat Cheese made with poached apricots. This goat cheese dip is the best I've ever had - it packed all the tang of goat cheese into a perfectly spreadable dip. The delicately spiced poached apricots had a rich honey flavor that added to the vibrance of the goat cheese. For Salads we had the Vine Ripened Tomato and the Lobster Cobb. The Vine Ripened Tomato was made with tear drop peppers and feta. I’m generally not a big feta fan but the Vine Ripened Tomato made me one; the Mediterranean-style salad was flavor packed. The vine-ripened tomatoes were bursting with sweet acidity that was countered by the creamy feta topped with fresh herbs. The Lobster Cobb was made with crispy chickpea, bacon and dill ranch. The Lobster Cobb was a big brunch winner - it was a large salad heaped with fresh ingredients and toppings. The texture variation on this salad was everything; there was the crunch of the greens, crisp chickpeas & bacon, bursting tomatoes and the smooth chew of the lobster. Each bite was hearty and had a lovely balance of zest from the dill ranch. For Sides we had the Lemon Herb Cottage Fries. The fries were nice and crispy on the outside, buttery soft on the inside. The lively lemon aoili heightened each savory bite of fry. Now that’s what I call a stellar brunch.
Terrible brunch experience. Had a 1:15 reservation with friends but was asked to wait 30 minutes for our table upon arrival. Drinks took 10-15 minutes to receive after ordering and the food took 45 minutes. I had to ask for my check when the food arrived, as I had another place to be. The food king salmon baked eggs was extremely bland and a very small portion for $24. This place is over rated and over priced.
I expected... better? When you walk into Kini's you're impressed, it's cute! Then you look to the left and there's a mannequin... like why? lmao. It's not a clothing store yet there's a singular mannequin standing there in a whole 2016 outfit. Y'all.. I beg you.. get rid of the mannequin. Drinks are good, nothing too extraordinary or impressive, but they weren't bad, at least! With their neighboring bar FMN serving up seriously amazing cocktails, I'd save my money and go next door for drinks. Service was great, but we definitely over ordered and I wish our server would have been a little more outspoken about telling us how big the portions were, because we weren't told and ordered too much. But thats more on us for not asking portion size, tbh. I can own that one! As far as food, recently I went to ZOU ZOU NYC and the genre was the! exact! same! The menu was almost identical, so maybe it's my fault for having somewhere to compare Kini's to but Kini's didn't live up to my expectations after having identical food in another city. The food at Kini's left me unsatisfied. The flavors just weren't vibrant enough same with the drinks. It felt like everything was "watered-down." It just missed the mark, if I'm being honest, especially considering the prices. The meats were cooked well, we had the lamp chop & Moroccan chicken, but as stated above the flavor was simply... lacking. We spent over $300 and just felt a little disappointed by the meal overall. Hopefully they step up their game, because this type of food is a crowd pleaser if done properly!! Unfortunately, at this time, it's not on my recommendation list.
I had such high hopes for this place! A good Mediterranean brunch has such potential, but do yourself a favor and pass on this place. For starters, the menu is completely misleading… we ordered the king salmon wood oven baked eggs for $24 and received a tiny cast iron skillet with a serving size of 2 eggs with three tiny pieces of smoked salmon on top - not nearly enough to be a meal, and no where near an acceptable dish for the price. When I read “king salmon” for $24, I personally have a different idea in mid of what’s coming to the table. Secondly, we ordered the fried chicken and Moroccan pancakes… the chicken was extremely over fried to the point of hardly any meat under the layers of oil, and the Moroccan pancakes were… lack luster and had no flavor. There was also a heaping serving of dill on top which made the dish that much more confusing. Over all, the menu description and the food quality was a D+ at best. The only component that deserves a higher rating is our super happy and smiley server.
Awesome new addition to the creek, we needed some upscale greek around here! My fiancé LOVED his octopus while I snacked on all the dips and spanakopita. The sommelier was incredibly kind and helpful as well. Definitely will be coming back! My only suggestion to make this six stars is if they could add a main course vegetarian option in the future, for those like me who may come in with a bigger stomach. Trust me though, I could’ve been wheelbarrowed out
Was excited to try Kini's after they moved into Of A Kind's old walls - it's a great neighborhood location for me. I dined with 6 other friends. Cocktails were mediocre and on the sweet side. The highlight of the meal were the dips chickpea, avocado dill and the beet muhammara - the beet was the crowd favorite, and the pita was fresh and wonderfully seasoned. The tomato & feta salad was also a highlight - super fresh, flavorful vinaigrette and high-quality feta. The main courses, however, left much to be desired. We ordered the $95 sea bass and the fried chicken. The sea bass was tasty and fresh, however, not a $95 dish. The fried chicken was over cooked, though the spices and sauces were nice. Overall, the food did not match the prices we paid - dips were $12-18 each for 3 oz - this seemed a bit high as well. Service and ambiance were nice, but very smoky and fish smell from the kitchen which we sat right next to.
This was a memorable meal. We loved the cocktails, dips, the flaming cheese, the brussel sprouts and the sea bass wrapped in grape leaves. The sticky pudding dessert was also memorable. We were too busy chatting with other diners and forgot to take photos. The filet kebab was amazing according to the diners at the table next to us. The waitstaff were fun, appropriately attentive and helpful! I look forward to returning very soon.
