First time in there for lunch. Good selection of sandwiches on the menu. A small family style place. Food was good, service was excellent. I'll be back again soon !!

I'll start by saying I'm new to the area and I really wanted to love this place.  I certainly didn't come here expecting fine dining, I came expecting a nice lil mom & pop place with great food.  I expected great food because the reviews on Yelp as well as Google are mostly positive.  

Decor: 5 Stars
I absolutely loved the look of this place.  It feels friendly when you walk in.  It certainly is the type of place where you want to go meet up a friend and have some coffee.  

Service: 5 Stars
I had absolutely no issues with the service, the guy taking care of us was super nice and when our food was taking a while he was very apologetic about it.  When I didn't like one of my dishes they took it back and deducted the price from my bill without me asking.  A man whom I'm guessing was the owner came to ask me about why I didn't like it but he was very polite.  

Food: 2 Star
This is where I ran into trouble.  I ordered 2 things, a French Onion Soup and a Fettuccine Alfredo.  My friend ordered a Burger and some Mozzarella sticks.  

I didn't time it, but it felt like my French Onion soup took a LOT longer than the 12 minutes the server had told me it would take.  I was having a good conversation, I didn't mind.  The soup looked pretty good, problem was when I made it past the layer of cheese and started to grab from the middle.  It was cold. Not room temperature cold, no, this thing must have been frozen before they threw it in the oven because it was fridge cold.  

I sent the French Onion soup back so that they could finish heating it.  Eventually it came back at about the same time as my Fettuccine Alfredo.  This time it was warm all the way and delicious.  

I love Fettuccine Alfredo, eat it at just about every restaurant that offers it.  That's why I had to order it here, it's kind of a tradition of mine.   I'm not an Alfredo snob though, just like my coffee I'll take it from just about anywhere.  However there is no way that I could call what I got in my plate today Alfredo sauce.  It had the wrong look (very white), the wrong texture (grainy instead of smooth) and the wrong taste (tasted nothing like Alfredo sauce).  

My friend rated his Burger a 7 out of 10, so I guess the burger was good, and it looked pretty good.  He did find the mozzarella sticks to be inconsistent, some were fully cooked where the cheese was melted inside and some felt like they could have used a bit of extra time in the fryer.  

Price: 
Not really sure how to give price a rating, obviously I'd prefer cheaper, but the prices were far from high.  I felt everything was very reasonably priced.  

Conclusion: 
I don't think the cook that was there tonight is their normal cook, because there is no way that all these positive reviews are based on an experience like the one I had today.  I also don't want this to be my final review, I want to come back to Kiss the Cook and enjoy the experience that most people seem to normally get.  I'm thinking today was just an off day for them.  When I return I'll make sure to update this review.  

I'm not sure if I'd try the Fettuccine Alfredo again though.

Such a cute little spot. Best Cuban sandwich in Racine/Sturtevant area. Steak sandwich was tender and great flavor also.
