Kitchen the Bluff is a new incubator commercial kitchen operated by the Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC).
Kitchen the Bluff is a new commercial kitchen operated by the Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC) and formerly managed by Urban Oasis.
The Kitchen on the Bluff grew out of daily interactions at the East Side Enterprise Center (ESEC), which is a meeting place, a connector, and a catalyst for building a thriving and equitable community.
This space used to house a bakery called A Toast to Bread. In recent years, it also operated as a commercial incubator kitchen.
In 2013, the kitchen was shut down and vacant until the LEDC and Urban Oasis coordinated the remodeling and relicensing of the kitchen, including equipment upgrades and a room for classes and community events.
The space is a commercial incubator kitchen for small food businesses including caterers, bakers, ice cream makers, and farmers.
The Kitchen on the Bluff project enables the Latino Economic Development Center to advance their vision of a thriving multicultural community, enriched with Latino leadership, culture, and economic influence. LEDC is a partner in the Kitchen in order to renovate and reopen a commercial kitchen to:
incubate small and minority-owned businesses
provide a location for value-added production opportunities for immigrant and minority farmers
foster the vitality of the East Side business community
further create opportunities in the local food economy
