Good things first, the environment, staff and music was nice. But the most important thing, the food was dissapointing. If you have been to Japan and tried original japanese food, you will be very dissapointed with their food. The Karage was small and dark brown, the Takoyaki was kind of hard outside. If you want to get an idea of japanese food its ok, but dont expect its same as the real japanese food.
Pros: good menu selection, good presentation, cozy and fun atmosphere, usually no wait Cons: small portions, flavor is lacking, can't even properly make their regular menu items The ambiance is cool. Went with a friend; we got the chicken ramen and curry with chicken katsu--no changes, no substitutions, just the regular menu items. The chicken ramen was just chicken and noodles in broth with a small piece of seaweed; none of the other stuff the menu says it comes with. The portion of the ramen was kind of small for the price too. Then there's the curry. The menu says, "spicy curry with potato, carrots, onion, green onion served with a side of Japanese vegetable relish"; what they gave me was a bowl of bland, not at all spicy curry, with 4 pieces of pickled vegetables in it, so for some odd reason they stuck the relish in the curry in place of the actual vegetables. It would have been nice to know if they were out of some ingredients, but they never said any such thing. Not only were the dishes not as advertised, they were bland. At least they looked pretty. These guys are just phoning it in--will not be back.
Absolutely will not be eating here again. The hostess & young lady that took our order were great! However, the food is nasty. I went to this place a long time ago & everything was good! They must’ve changed ownership. The menu had way more than what they have now. I got the spicy miso kimichi ramen. Supposedly it was to have pork belly, but it was more like a piece of dried chicken, the “broth” was more of a tomato soup consistency. It just wasn’t appetizing. My cousin got some kind of rice bowl with pork belly on top. It was literally a bowl of rice with 3 or 4 small strips of pork belly she didn’t eat it & ended up sending it back, she got the wings instead. Nothing extravagant, fried wings drenched in sweet chili sauce. This place is nothing how they used to be. It’s unfortunate because they were actually good once upon a time.
We had just spent the morning exercising heavily We thought of nothing better and to get a light yet refreshing bowl of ramen. I got the mixed broth and then added a few spoons of her spicy broth and they both really came to life. We left with our bellies satisfied and the price was nice too.
Save your money and go somewhere else. Besides my wonderful waitress, the rest is horrible, from the food to the owner making the food in the kitchen, yelling and don’t have any custom service skills. It’s just sad. The foods are not authentic at all. This is not Asian food. Yes you heard it from a true Asian, just don’t go here. I hope my waitress find somewhere else to work soon because looks like he doesn’t know how to treat his staffs.
I really enjoyed the artworks and hip atmosphere of the restaurant. Here is the miso ramen and Diablo chicken ramen, I was slightly disappointed because they had run out of hot saki on the day we went but the great service and delicious ramen made up for it. We enjoyed our late lunch here.
Had a pretty great experience here. Cocktails were great, service was fantastic, and the food was spectacular. The miso soup was one thing that surprised me because it tasted a lot more authentic than any other place I've had it; the shaggy dog roll was pretty good, it was a perfect level of spicy where both I and my girlfriend could enjoy it. Finally the ramen. I ordered the chicken ramen and my girlfriend ordered the tonkatsu shoyu ramen. Both were great and had plenty of noodles and a heaping of veggies in both. You definitely won't leave here hungry. 5/5 will definitely drop in here in the future
I got the Vegan Roman and the kids got the kids chicken benton box. My dish was definitely full of flavor. The broth is made soy milk so it’s definitely heavier than other vegan broths I’ve had. The only thing I didn’t care for was the seaweed that came with it. It threw off the taste so that was pulled out but overall it was pretty good.
After hearing and reading all the amazing reviews I expected more from koji. I was really disappointed my broth was super salty and had a weird burnt taste in it. I was also hit with a strong vinegar taste from one of the garnishes which threw my taste buds in a sight confusion. The pork chashu that I got was super fatty and no real meat on it and they were two really slim slices. My brother got the chicken don and loved the flavors that the chicken contained but did say the glaze or sauce that was poured on top was a little too sweet after getting into the bowl.
Excellent staff and food. We were seated promptly and the food came out quick. Menu is a little small, but still great. The atmosphere is fun and kind of reminded me of being back in Fukuoka Japan. They had these places just like this there and made excellent comfort food when you were out with friends. This place delivers that same feeling that I can enjoy with my family now.
