I have been to this location twice within a week. The food was delicious. I had the special avocado salad and added chicken. So delicious. I also share the eggplant rollatini app with a friend. I highly recommend this place. The staff was friendly and the vibe was good.
Lots of Food.....and It's All Good Food This was our first visit and we were very impressed! The pork chop special was so massive that my wife took 1-1/2 of the 2 giant pork chops home. The accompanying polenta was very tasty with good consistency. You really need to look at the Special Menu online before you go to the restaurant. Our very good waitress, Sarah, spent a long time listing all the specials from memory. Because there are probably two dozen of them, it's impossible to remember them all when trying to make a selection. I was waiting for the waitress to list the pane cotto I saw on the online menu, but she didn't mention it. When I asked about the pane cotto, she said, "Sure, we can make that for you." I had the vitello valdostana veal scallopini topped with prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, fresh tomatoes and eggplant, which was also excellent. After our leftovers were packaged, Sarah went through a long list of deserts, and I settled on the cherry amaretto gelato, but I would have been very happy with half a dozen other selections. La Lupa has quickly zoomed to one of the top restaurants on our list of favorites for several good reasons. We will definitely be back!
We got take out from here and the proportion size is massive! We got eggplant rigatoni, bolognese, salmon, and the eggplant appetizer along with two salads. The bolognese was very tasty, it had a good meat and tomato flavor to it. The eggplant appetizer was good, but a bit acidic. And the eggplant rigatoni was very tasty too and the pasta was cooked perfectly. I would definitely order from here again!
So very disappointed. I have only recently been trying to eat indoors due to Covid. I have eaten here several times outdoors and it’s always been a good experience. I chose to eat inside to celebrate my birthday with my family. We had reservations for 6 people for 6:30 and arrived 10 min early. It took a few minutes to even be greeted and when the hostess finally came we were told I’ll be with you shortly. We were told that three or four times all the while people arriving after us were seated. We were finally seated at 6:50 and it took us over 30 minutes just to get our drinks. Our waiter was super slow to return to take our appetizer order. Our main course was so ridiculously slow coming out that no one was even hungry anymore. Throughout the evening no one approached our table to refill our water glasses, ask if we needed anything, or how the food was. We weren’t able to escape this nightmare experience until after 9:30. It’s very sad when you’re at a restaurant and can’t wait to get out of there. They clearly do not have enough staff and it’s such a shame because their food is excellent.
Let me start off by saying this restaurant is beautiful. What I did not like was the fact that I was not greeted, not seated and was told by a waiter that he will be right back but never came back. Other waiters passed me as well and don’t get me wrong, it was busy but I was standing at the front for 5 minutes and never was approached especially being new to Connecticut and new to the restaurant and not to make this a race thing but being the ONLY African American there that night. I honestly wish I could have had the time to at least experience the food but thank you no thank you. Do better with the service.
I was very impressed with La Lupa.Great food, the waitress was awesome and the amount of food was more than enough for Me.So,I will be going back for sure.
Updated review: Updated review from 2 to 4. Went back a 2nd time and overall experience was much better. Truffle oil burrata appetizer was great, but they should have shaved the melon or made it easier to assemble in plate. The veal chop I had was great but expensive special at $45, came with two types of potatoes not sure why. Pancetta pasta was delicious but needed more texture. Wanted a pizza but unfortunately they said they were short staffed understandable in current climate so no one was working the brick oven. It's an amazing looking oven so I was disappointed! All their pizza doughs were left sitting out and no one was using them... . Original review: Everything was under salted and under seasoned. I had seafood risotto $35 watch out for their specials they're way higher $ wise then their menu. Veal chop $45, $28 rigatoni pancetta, $35 for a seafood risotto that's just clams, shrimp and mussels is a little outrageous . My risotto was very al dente. Not sure how that happens since risotto overcooks so fast. My wife ordered the lobster pappardelle and it was also super Al dente, and had very little lobster. We asked the waiter if the pappardelle was supposed to be al dente he said he didn't know and would check, but then he never did. Everything was under seasoned. A table next to us sent back their pasta dishes as well so it wasn't just us. The seafood was actually the only saving grace it all tasted good. The waiter was super nice so this really isn't a jab at their service but the food was just forgettable, and at those prices it shouldn't be.
The dinner plates are made for two meals. I got a pasta dish that was delicious and wife got the sea bass. The sea bass covered in breadcrumbs was not the highlight. The have lots of specials and food is fresh. We were glad that we found this restaurant to eat during our road trip.
I love this place and go there often. Last night was not a good experience. The steak was ordered rare came well done. When the waiter finally came by 20 minutes later after waiting 45 minutes for our meal, he said he could put another on. We didnt have the time to wait another 45 minutes. The chicken was dry. We had an hr drive home. They didnt offer to comp the meal or even discount. Especially for a 40 steak. Very disappointed especially when we drive an hour to go there.
I had the pleasure of taking my daughter and wife out for lunch. It was my daughter's pre birthday gift and we landed at La Lupa in North Haven. Since covid relaxing we ventured out and had a very impressive meal. Started with an order of fried calamari , the ladies ordered the pan seared salmon and I had the veal dish. Our waitress was very accommodating and plesant. I will say the portions were extraordinary, the quality was above my expectations and everyone left with a doggie bag. I give them 5 stars and highly recommended them. $$
