We have visited Lake Catherine State Park twice. Each time was a very good trip. The camping spots are large and easy to navigate. The park is clean and the bath houses are well kept (and warm - almost too warm!). The staff is always friendly. We enjoy the park rangers presentations on bears, snakes and other topics at the amphitheater. We are usually the only people there which is a shame because the Rangers really do a good job of presenting interesting information about the various topics. The kids with us range from 6 to 18 and they all enjoy the talks. They had a full bear skin at one presentation and everyone got a chance to hold it for as long as they wanted. The ranger was very patient with all the questions from the kids. This park has full hook ups which is really nice. The trails are well maintained and easy to navigate. The bridge at the end of the Red and Yellow trail is a big hit with the kids after a long hike. This past time we stayed in section A which is not right next to the water. It was nice and we had 5 - 9 deer show up every evening in the edge of the woods to graze around. We love Arkansas State Parks and rank Lake Catherine among the best as far as walking trails, campsites, full hook ups and friendly park rangers. There is also decent cell phone service! Tent sites looked nice as well if you are into tent camping.

Even better than it looked on the website. The facilities are well maintained, with handicapped stalls and showers, and a ramp for wheelchair access. The geese kicked up a ruckus around one in the morning, which only added to the charm of the place. I couldn't find any growing nearby, but I swear the air smelled like honeysuckle. We camped in a primitive tent site for 4 nights. The campground is really well maintained and and the restrooms and shower facilities are really nice. Staff is very friendly. Would definitely recommend this park.

Beautiful state park!!! Lakeside campsites and cabins. Great hiking trails and a beautiful waterfall. Brand new nature center. There's even a cute little gift shop
