Le Pain Quotidien

Story

We’re a Belgian bakery and restaurant serving simple, wholesome and seasonal food. Le Pain Quotidien means “the daily bread” in French, and like our name suggests, we’re bakers at heart. Although our handmade, organic bread is how we got our start, we serve a variety of healthy options like organic coffee, pastries, eggs, tartines, soups, salads and desserts.

At Le Pain Quotidien, we believe that food should be simple, nourishing and delicious. That’s why we source ingredients that are local or organic whenever possible. We also believe in the importance of eating a healthy, plant-based diet, so you’ll find many vegetarian or vegan options on our menu.

Absolutely wonderful!!! The environment is calm and welcoming. The customer service is phenomenal, they always have the customer first in mind. The food was beyond delicious. It could not have been more perfect! I would gladly come back anytime just to experience this restaurant again. HIGHLY recommend!!!

I recently had a very bad experience here. It started out well, with an attentive waiter placing me at the large table in the middle of the room. However, the second waiter who took the order simply forgot about it. After people sitting left and right from me who had arrived considerably later got their food (some of them ordered the same dish that I had ordered), I complained to the waiter. He simply responded that this could happen in the rush over lunch. No apology, no freebie. LPQ is always a hit or miss, in our experience largely depending on the management of the particular place and their hiring luck respectively. This one is a definite miss! Avoid as their are plenty if other good to great options around Bryant Park.

There are many outlets of the Le Pain Quotidien. But, I have to say that this one stands out. Amazing place in the heart of the city! Hardly expected the kind of space. Was quite a welcoming spot after a tiring day. The service was excellent and we got amazing suggestions. Went for one of the vegetarian quiches and avocado salmon tartines. The salmon was done to perfection - thinly sliced, rightly smoked. The quiche was how a model quiche should be - not too thick that a knife can't cut through and not so soft that you have to spoon it. Prices were fine. Overall experience was quite good, though the restroom was not that clean - perhaps that particular moment. Will surely come back!

There are many choices and we order the oven chicken and fried egg. Taste fine but not as hot as I expected. At the cold day, I want more warm food. Btw, I really like its decoration.

I am guessing this French cafe has adapted its French attitude as well. The staff is definitely not very familiar what a good service should be like. Not only the waitress disappears on you after taking your initial order but also is having an attitude each time you ask her for something. She suggested a dish to me, saying it came with bread and butter, I got no butter. After asking for some she told me they were out. Yet 15 minutes down the road I get a piece of cold solid butter for my 3 inch bread leftover. Cappuccino served without sugar (I found that on the next table over) nor a spoon or at least a wooden stick to stir it. Not to mention a guy that cleans tables who literally invaded our table by swiping everything off it without giving us a second to respond that we were NOT finished with out food. First time in this place, enjoyed the food that was spoiled by clueless rude staff. Thanks. If you are looking for a peaceful breakfast time avoid this place at all costs. Never again for me!!!
