I live walking distance from lefty s, if it was great every time i went there,  i would have been more than just a few times.   When I have people visit, they are immediately eager to try the neat looking surf burger shack.   Their sign is really well made.   Thick cut steel.   Either somebody they know well really welds excellent or they must have paid a fortune getting that sign made.  Don't stray far from the tiny window you order at or you might not hear your name as the person yells it at the face of the person currently ordering.   3 stars because somebody knows how to pick a good sign maker.

I have eaten here a few times. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. The food is very good as well, if you are into that classic drive in burger and fries. The only complaint I had is they forgot to put a side of their delicious fry sauce in the back. Luckily I was still in the parking lot. They were more than happy to provide one when I came back though.

My fiancee and I tried out Lefty's a week ago, and we found the portion sizes were great for the price. However the meat had a slightly propane after taste I wasn't fond of. Most likely it's from using gas to cook, and I've never been one to enjoy that style of burger in fairness.
Additionally the shakes had this off putting burnt plastic after taste which made us unwilling to finish them. It's a pity because the overall flavor of the shake was good, but tasting burnt plastic as an after taste is a bit perturbing. (We tried the Butterscotch shake and salted caramel shake)
I wanted so badly to scream this place is awesome, come get a burger here. The crew working was amazing and polite, but that great enthusiasm didn't translate to the food.
The fries and fry sauce were pretty awesome though.
Sometime in the future I may give it one final shot, but it was sadly a poor first showing. I don't know if they just had an off day or if something was severely wrong, but fingers crossed that when I give them another shot that it's far better.

Food is pretty good and worth a little drive to get there.  Definitely a laid back approach to their service and presentation... T-shirts and gym shorts for "uniforms".  😊
