Comfortable, clean, and cozy room and friendly staff. Breakfast was good and amneties good too. The corridor felt a bit creepy with the bright white lights and shiny tiles gave me a mental hospital feeling. One start off for that. Everything else checks out.

Stayed at the Lodge for 4 nights in June of 2017, along with five members of a documentary film crew. Between the six of us, we booked four rooms, all of which were conveniently located side by side or across the hall from one another. 

All six of us had ideal, pleasant stays which is exactly what we needed after each day of hard work.  Sergio at the front desk was polite and helpful every step of the way. The rooms were all clean and quiet and the housekeeping staff was warm and friendly. I felt safe at the Lodge as did our crew, which was important given the amount of expensive equipment we were lugging around. The continental breakfast is simple, and I noshed on bits of it every morning - certainly acceptable given the amount we paid for the rooms.

The Lodge has some very specific rules laid out on their website. If you can read and follow those simple rules, your stay will surely be as pleasant as ours was. I mostly wanted to write a counter review to the numerous nasty reviews the Lodge has received, many of which appear to be written by folks who couldn't be bothered to follow the Lodge's rules.

This hotel must be the most greediest hotels I've ever been to. First they don't allow any visitors and even if they have two beds, they do not allow a third person. On top of that they don't offer any refunds and you'll have someone else sleeping outside if there are more than two people in your group. They watch you closely and there are NO exceptions. If you care about being treated like a human then do not waste any money here. Heck, it's better sleeping in your car instead of coming to somewhere like here.
Im writing this to warn everyone who is trying to come here after a full day of fun. This is not where you want to be at all. Oh and based on other reviews they don't allow children! To turn your back on a child is really a jerk move

While checking in my guest was treated like a common criminal. The person working the late shift told them " you dont want to know what im thinking of you."  Still not sure what brought that on. The Lodge of La Mesa controls everything you do. For example,  you are not allowed to have a guest in your room. Stay if you don't mind being treated like a person who doesn't matter and if you don't mind bad service.

We are spending three nights. Check in was fine. The neighborhood is residential.  We were close to a Vons and Starbucks. There are a lot of great restaurants nearby.   The rooms are not upscale.  They are clean and comfortable as a place to spend the night.  We spent little time in the room because there is so much to do locally. If you want a vacation hotel or spa, then book a spa.  If you want a well maintained hotel to sleep in this works.
