It's always a good time here at Long Hunter. The lake is down in this photo but sometimes it's up. It's particularly beautiful when it's down because of the rocky Shoreline. The 2-mile loop that goes around is a really nice walk. The trail is paved around the lake and there are also unpaved mountain bike trails throughout the park. You can rent paddle boats or canoes and fish and just have a good time. The wild life is great here. Dear will come up to you sometimes

Very nice trial around and a bridge over the lake. About 2 miles. There is also a small nature trail. I been here many many times. You also get to see wild deer.

5 mile hike on a fall day from the Bakers Grove Trailhead around the Day Loop Trail. Easy to moderate terrain. From wooded areas to beautiful views of Percy Priest Lake. We had a great time and the trail was in good condition. I would not consider this trail accessible for those with limited mobility. I would recommend as a great way to spend an afternoon.

Beautiful and peaceful. Wildlife is easy to find... deer and the occasional crane or wild turkey. It's a great spot and on most days it's not too crowded. The 2 mile loop around the lake is very nice for a relaxing hike and there is another non-looping trail if you're feeling more adventurous.

If you want to run at 6am this isn't the place. They don't post hours anywhere (that I have seen so far) but it appears they unlock gates around 7am. As a place to run with your dog it's ok--there are two short trails next to each other that dogs are allowed at. One of them goes along a bluff overlooking the water so that is pretty neat because you can see the mist devils in the early morning. The biggest problem is just lack of length/variety. Without your dog there are more trails though. Watch out for ticks, especially in the late summer. There is at least one boat ramp and I also know you can rent kayaks for an affordable price. It is crowded during the weekend but pretty empty during the week. Sometimes there is trash lying around but lately they have been doing a great job of keeping it clean.
