1. I once brought in a chihuahua that was found across the street from my house. At the shelter I asked if I can come back for the dog if no one claimed it and the young lady said yes and so I left my name and number so they could call me. I went back only three days later asking for the dog and the lady behind the counter had a look of shock on her face. She asked me to sit down and called for a manager. When the manager walked out he had a strange smirk on his face and began explaining that they couldn’t find the dog -it must have ran away. He repeated himself as my friend argued with the manager as to how could they just lose a animals like that. It wasn’t until we left that Itvhit me that they put the dog down but can’t admit to it. 2. My dog Tommy was 10 years old but we had him for 8 and he was starting to get sick. My family and I were saving up money for surgery but unfortunately one morning he did not wake up and didn’t seem to be breathing. We couldn’t hear his heart either... we lost a member of our family. We brought his body to the shelter wrapped in a blanket and the man who took him said some very nice words and then we left. A friend from school worked there and it broke my heart when she told me that my dog woke up on the table but they still put him down. She said that happens all the time but they can’t do anything about it. Again, they had my dads phone number but we were never notified.

Compared to most places in LA this shelter is well kept! Some of the kennels were empty which was a good sign to see! This is my first time adopting a dog and I didn't know much about adoptions and they don't tell you much unless you ask but they know A lot. Not all of the employees work in the same department or know the same information. The officers in front desk will know the most A few things to keep in mind 1) if youre getting a puppy or a younger dog you have to pay for the shots and it being spayed, it's also required by law for them to do this before adoption so it isn't up to the shelter. I got a 2 month old pup and it came out to $145, not $50. I think older dogs who came in after they got their shots will be cheaper 2) always check to see if the dogs have commitments or holds on them before getting to attached to a dog. I put in holds on four different dogs before I was able to get my dog 3) new dogs come in everyday so I recommend checking in the mornings and before they close so you're the first person to put in a hold on a dog!

I would like to say the facilities were clean and maintained when I went! They had heaters running and most of the dogs were wearing sweaters, and all of them had beds and blankets. While adopting our dog we ran into a licensing issue the supervisor who handled it was calm and respectful and listened to my issues and concernes. I appreciated how patient and kind everyone is. They do care about the animals and want them to go to good and loving homes. You can tell by looking at them that they do. I’m sure it’s a hard job and they deal with a lot of BS! Over all satisfied with my experience with the staff here! Thank you for your services & happy holidays.

This shelter is one example of why people just let animals go wild ... because when you go to this shelter for help they act like they dont want to take the animal ... tell you to find your own people to take it really ? I know that i can find anyone to take it the point is if soneone comes to them to adopt then you know they are truly wanting an animal to take care of ... i have been turned away twice by these people not wanting to help ... but when they needed supplies etc i brought a ton load of things to help them ... so im on my own finding animal rescues because a shelter cant do what it was designed for helping animals ive helped animals all my life being why im having to give a few away and now i cant get a shelter to even help ... what a shame

Don’t get me wrong, I love the staff and I love the dog I adopted from them. My issue comes from the fact that on her arriving at the shelter just three days prior to us adopting her they did not do a thourough exam nor did they do one when we left. It is their own procedure to do so on intake and exit. Took my dog to the vet today, 4 days after adopting her, to find out she has a plethora of medical issues such as a double ear infection and being almost 10 lbs under weight among other things. I did address this with the manager there and he wasn’t even aware this was going on. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU GET AN EXIT EXAM DONE ON YOUR NEW FUR BABIES ❤️❤️ Also take advantage of the free exam voucher they give you for local vets ☺️
