This was our introductory experience with Chicago deep dish pizza. And let me tell you, couldn't have picked a better place! The food was phenomenal, the atmosphere was cozy and trendy, and the wait staff was great. We ordered the small deep dish, and got it half one way and half another, and split it. Two "slices" each and it was MORE than enough! Coming from NY I can't say that it was *better* that NY pizza, but it was phenomenal. After trying it for the first time, I don't even understand the debate anymore, since they are so fundamentally different. The deep dish is almost like a lasagna made of pizza, while NY slices are "grab and go". I highly recommend Lou's to anyone looking to try deep dish for the first time!

I am a Lou Malnatis fan and have had great experiences at their River North location. I tell everyone I know that they are the best. My experience at West Loop location was not very positive and seems to match the experiences of the more negative reviews here. I called an order ahead 30 minutes prior to arrival. Once we arrived, we waited an hour and a half for our 4 slice small pizza order and it was cold :(. We saw tables all around us getting large pies delivered to their tables, many who walked in after us. Though our waitress was polite and apologized at least twice for the delay, I can't say I would return or recommend this location. There was no wait when we arrived and there were available tables on a Saturday night at approximately 6 pm; not sure who dropped the ball in the kitchen with our order, but it was not a good experience. **I'm updating this review to share that management contacted me regarding my recent dining experience and they were very prompt and caring about my concerns. It's very refreshing to know that this business does care enough about its operation and takes the time to follow up with customer service issues. My experience may have been on an off night, but willing to give this location another try:)

The Chicago deep dish pizza here was the best pizza I have ever had so far in the United States. As for the first time we came, and never had a chance to try a deep dish style, the restaurant seemed to offer so many choices. Fortunately, our waitress told us it was possible to order half-half. Thus, we came out with Deep Dish Malnati Chicago Classic on one half, and Deep Dish The Lou on the other half. It took 45 minutes to for the pizza to be done, but it was entirely worth the wait. The buttery crust, the topping, the marinara sauce, and a generous amount of quality Mozzarella cheese, all combined deliciously in an excellent pizza. The crust, the edge was scrumptious as it was crunchy and was took out of the oven just at the right time. I definitely will go to this restaurant for pizza craving and bring my friends here. Plus, the parking spot here is private and free.

The pizza was excellent. A must go when visiting Chicago. For those unfamiliar with Chicago deep dish - the slices are huge. 1 to 2 slices are more than enough for most people. The salads are a bit plain hence the four stars. The pizzas would be five star

You want chicago style deep dish pizza? This is where you need to go. The butter crust is the best. The fresh ingredients used makes it epic. The ambiance of the place was awesome. Very quaint and not to loud our server was friendly and helpful. Came in on a rainy day and made the experience that much better.
