One of the more quiet yet wild parks in NJ. If you are quiet, you will see wildlife. Sometimes black bear. Beautiful well kept place with alot of trails and great camping areas. Playground and trails to overlooks as well. Mt biking is sweet on some trails. Others, not so much. Some further hiking trails are challenging but there is easy paths mire central to the office.

Beautiful forested park. A little on the "wild" side for some. Trails are trails, no pavement. Nice primitive tent area and small RV campground. Lots of trees and trails. Not a typical urban park, it is a natural area with minimal "improvements" quiet, complete with wild animals, migratory birds, and local history. Great picnic area, views from Headley Overlook.

I can't believe the camp sites are only $20! Power and water hookups at the sites. No road noise whatsoever. Also the showers were the best we have used in 30 states. (Hot water, clean, good pressure) Some nice hiking trails nearby. Yes this place is great!

The nicest, quitest, cleanest RV campground I've ever been to. Fee is $20/night for partial hookups (common dump station in campground) which is a bargain, let alone in NJ where most campgrounds run you up to $60/night. We camped in our 30ft. RV for 14 days and absolutely loved it. The views around you are spectacular, park/RV sites are nicely paved. Water pressure and electric hook-up is good. I read other reviews noting how difficult it is to reach water hookup this wasn't the case for us. Sites 2-8 provide hoses already set up. All you need to do is unwind hose spool, pull hose to your site and open water valve. Sites 9-18 had water hookup close to site but you'll have to use your own hose. Each site has a picnic table and BBQ grill and you'll have nice privacy which is a plus. There is at least 15-20 ft. distance between each RV site which is very hard to find at most campgrounds. Our neighbors were friendly and mostly kept to themselves. There is a common campfire ring on one of the trails available to people staying at the RV sites. Bathhouse is not state of the art but was clean. Water temperature/pressure was good and a very short walk to bathhouse. Trash dumpster area was kept tidy and most campers followed rules to keep bears away. There are so many beautiful trails to enjoy throughout the reservation, just watch out for ticks in the summer season. What's also nice about this campground is it's close proximity to grocery stores, restaurants and gas stations. Nearest store was about 5 miles (about a 10 min. drive) away. Park ranger Preston was very helpful to us and accommodating. We originally planned to stay 3 nights but we loved the campground so much we extended our stay. RV campground does fill up quickly but Preston always found a space for us. Mahlon Dickerson has set a high standard for what the RV campground experience should be. I hope this park never changes and will return in the future.

Our favorite camping spot in New Jersey! Conveniently located just a few miles from our mall where you can park catch a bus that will take you into downtown New York City!! Price for camping is fair and even fairer if you use your senior discount!!
