I was hesitant because of how close it was to the city but I really loved this place. The bathrooms were clean (showers take tokens) host was nice ( had firewood on site $7 or 3 for 20). There are some great spots and a few small duds. We were in 22 and had a hill to our back and a tree for shade. The hiking there is great and the creek and lake are a nice change to most so cal hiking. I only wish there was a way to have more enforcement of rules. Saw 2 campers chopping tree limbs for firewood in broad daylight. This is clearly posted everywhere but clearly not enforced. I will go again.

I was lucky and was able to change to a campsite with a tree and some shade but most of the campsites would have been unacceptable to me. Maybe I am spoiled being from Oregon but the place was pretty rough for the price you paid. Especially since there is not guarantee that you will get the spot you want. They definitely need to institute an option to chose the site you want when reserving things.

Stayed at the campground in August 2017, on our camping trip through the US. This was by far the worst campsite It could of had to do with high season a bit as well. However it's very pricey for what you get, the sites lack shade and very few of them are flat most of them are on a slope. The showers at the campground are coin operated but that doesn't mean you will get warm water for the duration of the time you paid for it generally goes hot and cold the whole time,so after you wait in line for about 15 minutes to shower in a really dirty shower don't expect consistent warm water. The campground closes the gates at a 10pm so if you want to go to the city for the evening you have to try and make it back by 10pm. Very unorganized booking system, we were assigned to a tent site that was on a hill and had no shade so we asked if we could move sites, there was several empty sites so the employee told us if we waited until 12pm and nobody showed up to the desirable sites that we could move sites, so we waited 4 hours only to be told that he had over looked this magical list that he hadn't told us about and told us the empty sites weren't available, even though for the remainder of our stay there the particular site we had requested remained empty. Do yourself a favour look elsewhere and do not stay at this campsite, if your on a road trip like we were save yourself the hassle and find another campground.
