This is my first time ordering here. I asked the gentleman if they had potato wedges where he indicated yes so my order was placed. When I got the order, I was shocked at what they called potato wedges! These were thinly sliced pieces of potato NOT WEDGES at all!! While the potato circles were okay; however, these so called wedges were NOT worth the $5 paid which ought to have been $2 at most in small cup. Giant, Safeway and Walmart have REAL potato wedges where you can get your money's worth for much less than $5. Pics taken after food consumed but actual cup & wrapping potatoes were served in.
I really enjoyed working here in this café. It’s inside MLK public library, on the first floor right around the corner when you enter. Their prices are pretty decent for a simple library coffeeshop. I ordered the hot latte with a roasted turkey wrap. Very delicious. They couldn’t heat up the wrap for me, though. I think the only do that with other sandwiches. But definitely consider giving them a visit if you’re studying at the library one day. There are other quieter rooms where you can study/read/work on the 2nd and 3rd floors. I’m not sure if you can take food up there, though.
Great place for a cup of coffee, breakfast, light lunch or snack. Good food at very reasonable prices. Lots of room inside and tables outside in a lovely setting. And, because it's inside the MLK library, it's nice and quiet.
I got the jerk chicken combo - sandwich + plantains and a soda or coffee. $10 total. Satisfying, sweet staff, and good food in a convenient location. Their coffee was better than the $5 espresso roasted coffee I got at a coffee shop down the street. Added bonus of supporting Marianne's internship program :
This is a welcome stop at this revamped public library that also hosts events and exhibits. The team at the cafe were super friendly and helpful, service was fast and there were many open spots on the shady patio to enjoy my meal secluded from street level and surrounded by plants. Happy to support the mission of DC Central Kitchen!Food: 5/5
The name Marianne is in honor of the woman who trained many hospitality workers under an apprenticeship program! I love the name :. The cafe is in the right atrium as you walk into the MLK Library, and is a small, inexpensive cafe coffee is $1, with foods provided by the DC Central Kitchen. This cafe employs people under an apprenticeship program in hospitality. I ordered a cesar salad with grilled chicken. It was a fairly simple salad, but solid for only $8. A quaint place with a powerful mission of empowering our youth communities. I will continue to support this cafe :
Before I went to the library, I visited to have a bagel with coffee and cream cheese. The staff were friendly and very affordable. And it's a very reasonable price and a spacious and comfortable space.Food: 5/5
Really great value for downtown! Love that it is run by DCCK, an asset to our residents and our city. The blondie and iced hazelnut latte were fantastic, and together it was only $5.25. The library is also a true oasis. Cant wait to come back.
$1 coffee! It's just inside the Popular Library, with a nicely shaded reading garden... or you could bring a snack to the rooftop. Wheelchair accessibility: On ground floor, no steps
very cozy and roomy. A small coffee is just one dollar. Friendly staff. Perfect space to take a rest after walking this beutiful city.
