Wow! I didn’t know this chain still existed. This restaurant is a Time Machine. Carpet on the floors, closed off rooms, no flow at all. It’s like going to a grandma’s house. The menu is huge, which means the food is most likely mass produced and reheated. The only saving grace of this restaurant is the pie. They actually bake those fresh every day and they are excellent. The staff is great here and they try their best to make this an inviting place to eat. If it weren’t for 70 year olds, I don’t think they’d have any customers.
Came to get pies on Thanksgiving morning - forgot to order online so was stressed out a bit. Saw lines are organized with clearly marked colored tapes and signs. Employees are all friendly - from the person who greeted at line to update what pies were available, the person at door, cashiers, to pie packing and person in back they were all courteous and cheerful on a busy day. Thanks for a good experience. Pie was good - first time trying cherry pie and Kaluah cream pie since apple pies were long gone. Good job Marie Calendar staff!
Service and food was wonderful for a 1st time experience. I mostly enjoyed that distance away from other patrons was taken into consideration. But the food was great!Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: No
Service sucked. Tons of old people. I think I was the youngest and I’m pushing 48. The lunch special was decent but the best part was the pie which was lemon meringue.
If there were more stars to give for the service, I would. The staff was friendly, yet professionally so, allowing us to enjoy the food and our private conversation without interjecting themselves into it. Our food server kept a watchful eye on our progress and appeared when we would need her. The manager himself dropped by our table to ensure that we were having a positive experience. Took home a whole cream cheese pie, since too full for dessert. My only suggestion is for MC corporate entity to launch a complete overhaul of its restaurant interiors.
The Marie Callender's Fountain Valley location is the place to go for a blast-to-the-past wonderful experience of the delicious food that Marie Callender's has been known for over the years. The owner/manager, Laura, has been at this same location for 39 years, and she has maintained the highest standards of food quality and taste of the famous original recipes that we have come to love that is almost impossible to experience anymore! The difference between this location and other Marie Callender's locations AND other restaurants in general, is that you can taste the freshness and care that makes your dining experience go from good to fantastic! I suggest you run, not walk, to this location for a truly wonderful dining experience. Also, during this month of February, they have their famous whole pie sale! Vegetarian options: This location has a "knock-your-socks-off" "all-you-can-eat" soup and salad bar loaded with many vegetarian opions including the famous original recipe vegetable soup with a large variety of wholesome vegetables served piping hot along with the same famous cornbread and honeybutter. It is a healthy, tasty, and delicious soup! The soup and salad bar is an excellent value as well.
This place has the perfect taste of home with even better service! My server Brandon was attentive and helpful, while also being very friendly to everyone in the restaurant, even knowing the regulars by name. You could tell there was a very strong sense of community here. The food was absolutely fantastic and came out extremely quick but still hot and fresh. Even if your family is not from the greater countryside area of the US, the decor and phenomenal food will remind you of your mothers good Ol fashioned home cooking. Great food, fantastic service, and a fair price makes this definitely worth checking out.
Callendars went downhill a few years ago, but this one did pretty well. Servings were plentiful and so was the quality. The restaurant was NOT very busy at 6 pm on a weeknight but the number of staff was just almost enough to provide great service. Actually, I'd rate the waitstaff at a B plus. Ambience was quiet and well-lit. Nice for a change. Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly.
Group of 9. Reserved separate room that was great for our group to be able to communicate and easily gear each other. Good service by our server. Great food and pie! This is second year we have done this for our Christmas luncheon.Food: 5/5
The potroast beef is a great dish. Prices are reasonable and quality of food is excellent. They ask for credit card if you order on the phone. My credit card had fraudulent charges the next day. I'd never from them again.
