First time at Mimi's which is a bistro diner playing up French cuisine. First, the menu selection was elaborate with a blend of authentic French offerings and casual American dishes where you can get breakfast all day or go full-on with a diner-style 3 course meal for lunch or dinner. The prices were very fair and portions were generous. You can find unusual items like crepes, croque monsieur, and the like. Also, the service was good Shout out to William who was most attentive and charming. Here's why the 3 stars rather than 5: Ordered a fresh made croissant and it was blasted in a microwave and naturally arrived rubbery. I really don't like sending back food but this was bad. The server was gracious and kind about it. I ended up ordering another - no heat offered - to get that real croissant, flaky goodness but no. It was dense and definitely NOT French. I lived in Paris and even if I hadn't, anyone would know this is not authentic. The other reason is because I ordered the summer fruit salad with shrimp. All supposed to be fresh ingredients but they threw in canned mandarin oranges blended with fresh strawberries and grilled pineapple. Although the vinaigrette was good. Pictured Will visit again but with an understanding that there are pros and cons. If nothing else it's good for a great, hearty French-styled breakfast or lunch. My son loved the berry crepes pictured.
Wow, never again.....""EVER"" I Came here with my Family for a Father's Day Breakfast. The only thing that was actually good was the Coffee. I had the Eggs Benedict Florentine Spinach and Corned Beef Hash on The Side. It appears Like The Other photo showing Eggs Benedict just two months ago Those Pretty Skillet Cooked Potatoes w Some Parsley Flakes Are **NO MORE** Now You Get Nasty, Super Greasy Deep Fried Potato Chunks. I complained to the waiter asking / stating they are not good and just plain terrible. I asked for "Hash Browns" as a Replacement. He apologized and saID "Sorry That's What You Get" we don't Do Hash Browns. They take too long to Make in the kitchen. The Eggs Benedict I was served Looked Honestly Unappetizing to say the least **NOTHING** Like the picture from Two Months Ago., In That Picture they looked pretty good. I ordered something to go to Take to my Dad who could not leave the house from recovering from recent surgery **Please Note** an Omelet is made One Way, Meaning you scramble some eggs in a bowl then pour them into a pan ""Having your Filling Ingredients Already Cooked ""OR READY"" You add the "Filling Ingredients" to the egg pancake in the skillet then **FOLD OVER THE EGG BLANKET** That Is An Omelet. Well I ordered The ""Bacon, Ham and Sausage Omelet" they brought it in a To-Go Box, I Paid and Left. **The Picture of The To-Go Plate is Shown Here. Apparently **They Toss Some Eggs In a Hot Pan Scramble Them Then Toss In Everything Else **Scramble** and It Forms a Egg Brick Type Mixture **SEE REAL PICTURE** When I opened it To My Father His Statement Was ""WHAT THE HELL IS THAT"" That's Not What I Asked For and It Looks Terrible** I Looked At The Scrambled Brick Mess and Was Very Upset. **NOTE** I actually Called The Manager and Stated " I Am Sorry That's What and How The Culinary Manager Wants The "'Omelet" Prepared. My Statement Was Simple and To The Point. ""Im Sorry Thats Not An Omelet ""Thats A Scramble"" Your Culinary Manager Should ""TRY TO SERVE THIS TO CHEF RAMSEY ""AND WAIT TO SEE WHAT HE SAYS THIS IS""??? I want everyone to know, I am a very decent, kind, flexible caring Human Being. I say that because I know my heart. I have prepared thousands of incredible omelets in my lifetime because i'm Old School from a Real Sicilian Family That Came To Brooklyn NY after World War 2. ""I Love To Cook"" when I Can it runs in the Blood and The Family. What I opened in That Box ""IS NOT AN OMELET"" and for the "Culinary Manager To Say That's How He Wants It Done Speaks ""Volumes"" That is Just Straight Up ""Lazy and Fast"" It Makes for Quick Serving And Nothing More. Not to say the Least of Presentation of A Food Item. ""DON'T SHOW ME A MENU THATS SAYS ""OMELET"" Because It Certainly **IS NOT AN OMELET** It's A Scrambled Mess *** I will Never, Ever Come Back and Neither Will Anyone From Our Families because They All were Asked To Read This Review. Now Here is A Revelation** I went Online and Looked At Their Menu for Brookhurst / Huntington Beach Location. Now Just Take A Look At What They Show You A "Real Omelet" Looks Like...Attached ""Wow"" I would Have Been Happy With That ""Real Omelet""
So place was great clean and quiet but the egg white veggie omelet and the patatoes just didn't taste good to me ... could just be my preference... now I spent $30 but I know what to expect a minis.. the breakfast menu used to be on steroids now its regular...Food: 1/5
We love this place! Shivani was our most recent waitress and she was so friendly and truly on top of it all! And don’t get me started on the food! Perfect brunch spot!
My daughter and I used to love coming here after school when she was little. I’m glad to say that we’ve now restarted the tradition now that’s she’s an adult. The coffee is delicious almost as good as the muffins. Emma our server was attentive and very helpful.
Waited for 2+ hours for food. The food was awful. My sister was served frozen quinoa and my mother was given fries with so much oil that they could have put the oil in a separate bowl. We asked for new fries and asked for them to be cooked crisper. We were told that could not be done because cooking new fries, crisper would make the much more oily ... pretty much we were blown off by the waitress. She gave my mom a garden salad instead. I had the Tuscan Chicken dinner which I had never had before. It was very bitter not sure if it's supposed to be like that and cold. We've eaten there many times for breakfast and have never had any issues. This dinner experience was horrible and I don't see myself coming back. At least not for dinner.
The food was great last Saturday, along with great service! Decided to go back this Sat. It was completely the opposite! We didn't like the food. French onion soup was the only thing good today. One Person didn't like the pasta dish, Another Person, didn't like the pressed turkey sandwich or the Other Person the cheese sandwich or fries. Bread wasn't delishous, fries cold & generic. The breakfast last week was the best, two of us enjoyed the waffles, bacon, eggs and potatoes, one person loved, the eggs Benedict. Another liked the Taco breakfast. Prices are higher everywhere that means the food should be delishous everyday. If it isn't, people will want to stay home.
I started having Thanksgiving dinner on my own many, many years ago. My friends at the time had young kids and they were starting their own traditions, and while I was never short an invitation and even accepted now and then, I still felt better being on my own. Back then I went into the restaurant and had my meal while I read, but the restaurants started to get very busy over the years so I started grabbing it to go. Back then the special meal was about $18. Over the years, the price has gone up, of course, but the meal has actually lost the extras that used to make it great. Having consistently ordered it over several years and at various Mimi's locations, I can speak to the quality over time. But still, it's been my tradition so without checking the cost, I just headed over and grabbed my two meals. I was really surprised to find that the meal is now $28.99. And I would not mind paying that if the quality had not declined. To be clear, I've seen this the last few years from different locations. I even grabbed mine during COVID when they were just doing pick-up. But I think this will be the last year that I choose a Mimi's holiday meal. You don't get a roll anymore, you don't get gravy unless you ask for it, the sweat potato mash was bland and there was way too much of it and not enough mashed potatoes, the stuffing and the turkey were incredibly dry. They used to offer cheesecake as a dessert option, now it's only pumpkin and pecan pie - which sorry but, yuck to both. It wasn't the first time it was disappointing but it is the first time I said it out loud well, to myself. I just happened to pick the meal up at this location but like I said before, they have been declining in quality for a bit now. I've forgiven it because it's my tradition - and, honestly, because I've never thought to look elsewhere. But with more and more restaurants serving holiday dinners, I think I'm going to look around for another option next year. The crazy thing is that their regular turkey dinner is absolutely delicious, and it's about $15.00 last I checked. I will still enjoy their regular menu but the holiday meal needs to be improved a lot if I'm going to pay that much for it again.
I came in for a late breakfast with my Mom. We needed to go over some emails. The wifi didn’t work. The server was nice enough when she took our order and the food was good. Unfortunately, when it was time to leave the server dropped the check off and disappeared into the back for several minutes. When she returned we expressed that we needed to leave quickly. Instead of running the card, she slowly collected our plates and with full hands went to the next table and took their drink order. She then brought out their drinks and proceeded to take their order before dropping the check to us. She then returned to the next table with drinks and refused to move to allow us the exit of the restaurant. Poor service here.
French dip is lunch meat from Ralph's. Many menu items didn't have. Repeatedly was told due to recalls which was untrue. Definitely going to the other restaurants near there. Would not advise to go here!!!Food: 1/5
