The man that ran this place made our mornings! He knew all of his customers which was amazing! Our eyes were barely open and he was chipper and kind! After 1 purchase he knew us and what we ordered & he was also kind to us! The flavor of the coffee is outstanding and I don’t know why any other coffee place should be visited this John street MATTO is fabulous and ladies if you take Almond or oatmeal milk there’s no up charge !!! The mozzarella pesto ciabattas are tasty as is the almond croissants - Ty to the man who ran this place from The oatmeal coffee girl + plain coffee guy
I asked the hotel concierge for a coffee shop recommendation and he said “Matto”. Was a few steps from my hotel and quaint. This is a simple place with really good coffee and the kicker is “everything is $2.50” when you use the mobile app $3.50 in Store. The whole menu! This is coffee, pastries, and food perfection.
Cute little expresso joint on our way down Broadway. Good coffee for the price the mocha wasnt too sweet like most places these days; barista was friendly, smiley and helpful; and we had an amazing spinach pastry that they were happy to heat up for us.Food: 5/5
The only reason why I’m not giving one stars is because I’ve been here and had great experiences in the past. Although, the truth is it only takes one experience to ruin it for me. I ordered their Avacado-egg sandwich just to receive spoiled eggs and outdated Avacado. A picture is attached for reference. Soon after opening the bag the stench of the rotten food filled up the atmosphere of the room I was in. A horrible experience. Nevertheless, I will be fair and say I have had this sandwich before perfectly fine one other occasion. Take this information as you may, but I don’t believe I will be eating here after this experience.
Cafe is perfetto! Their bites: amazing!!! Egg white & spinach frittata is egg-cellent!!! No dairy either! The potato boureka is also simply amazing! Have it warmed up so it’s nice & crispy. I love the fact that they have these vegetarian options. I’m really sensitive to dairy so this place is ideal for me!
This is my favorite coffee chain in NYC and this location is where I almost always go. First of all, the price is right. However, the coffee is also fantastic, consistent, and on demand. I order through the app when I exit the subway and it's on the counter when I reach the shop every time. What stops it from being a five-star place is the inconsistent maintenance of the outside seating. Sometimes it is clean and welcoming, and when it is it's a great place to sit for a moment and people watch all the interesting sorts who traverse the streets. Other times, however, it is dirty and unkempt with some homeless or sketchy characters loitering in the seats. I hope it can be spruced up a little more regularly.
I have been to several Matto locations and they are all good. But this location is the best. The coffee is always really good and the customer service is great as well. Special shout out to Barista Sherica and another gentleman who always works with her. My experience is always pleasant in this location and recommend this place to everyone around to stop by for coffee.
Sunday morning , came to this place 7.02am..just opened. Took cup of coffee to go ..COLD !! Room temperature even they just opened !! at the bottom of the cup the remains of coffee beans does it mean that yesterday's coffee? TERRIBLE!!!!
This place is chronically understaffed. If you order at a busy time, like say the morning rush, do not expect the coffee to be ready in a timely manner, even if you pre order. Oh and don’t expect to be able to fit inside the store to wait. Coffee is decent though.
Go to the Starbucks down the street in stead Employee was rude about the coffee menu, didn’t even drink my coffee just threw it away. I asked whether I could get a latte with espresso in it, and was told very sharply that there was already espresso in it. When I received the coffee, it was extremely milky and poor quality.
