Awesome food! Service is spectacular as well. My first time there, I ordered to-go food. When I got home, I realized they gave me the wrong order, the manager issued me a full refund AND and $50 credit. You cannot beat this type of service. Needless to say I went back, and the food has been excellent every single time.

Was at Stanford and wanted a sit down spot for some lunch. Heard about Mayfield Cafe so I decided to check them out. Got the friend chicken sandwich and it was delicious. The spicy aioli that comes with it gave it the right amount of kick. The service was nice and quick to respond. Food came out in a timely manner as well. The place is on the more expensive side as the sandwich came out to around $20.

This is the perfect lounging spot for a quick drink of coffee or meet-up with a friend. The staff were accommodating and polite and the food looked and tasted great. My only complaint is the bread that I ordered in the afternoon was a little cold, but that's understandable since they bake everything in the morning. Highly recommend the focaccia bread.

My experience at this place was quite negative. It boils down to the following: they are thieves. When the bill arrived, I noticed an extra $8 or so service charge that I did not understand. I asked for clarification and was told this was some sort of fund for restaurant employees (I notice the table next to ours had similar questions). Given that this extra fee was not disclosed upfront (it may be somewhere on the menu in fine print, but nobody would pay attention because it is completely unexpected), and given that service had been definitely less than stellar, I decided to leave a small tip, basically subtracting $8 to what I would have normally left (it came to a $28 tip). To my surprise, checking my credit card statement later, I found that the tip had be padded by $12, to $40. I have never heard of such crookery. I will not go there again, and I recommend avoiding.

The atmosphere is amazing. It feels like your sitting in an old yet modern and romantic Hollywood movie. The interior has a lot of wood and lights. In the summer there's some limited outdoors seating but the setup is so beautiful and cozy and I just love all the lights they're putting up. Service is ok and the food is solid too. They have a really small menu but most of the dishes they do are consistently good. They use fresh local ingredients and let the natural flavors dominate. Try their deserts too. After dinner you can grab some bread from their bakery next door - always fresh and as good as in Europe.
