Customer service may be bad but 95% of the people walking thru the doors could of easily used protection and not had so many kids or could of enrolled into a community college or trade school so they could make descent money to survive. I can understand the disabled individuals needing help but people like to take advantage of the system and truth be told the workers at DSS are overworked and underpaid, think about how many people come in there asking for help, you guys couldn't and wouldn't do the job if it paid double.

I was on hold for 39 minutes . Then when I finally got someone I was put on hold for another 20 minutes. Then she put me on hold again . When she came back she disconnected me from the phone. So now I have to start the entire process over because you have people who do not know how to properly use a phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rude case managers! The case managers have horrible customer service. Clients are treated like a third class citizens, there is no compassion or patience from these workers. I wonder how they would feel if the shoe was on the other foot and they needed assistance and were treated like trash. It's deplorable and disheartening! The call center workers do their best to assist, however the case workers are extremely difficult to work with. I sense there is high burn out, high turnover and apathy.

I cant tell you what type of experience you'd have by walking in or calling this office. Write your Governor, your congress person.. Grass roots old fashion campaign. Maybe they will add more staff for such a large area as Mecklenburg.

If you ever need to drop off information, in there drop off box, take a picture or video, because case managers will claim they didn't get your information on time and deny your claim. Lazybones!
