It's hard to ensure that they are following the contract that they signed as well as you.  You can lock in a a price for a capped rate and even when prices are lower, they will charge you at the capped rate which is higher then the daily rate.  If you call to get daily rates, they can determine who you are by the number you are calling from and will tell you the price you are capped at.  I don't mind paying a company because they need to make money too but I hate shady businesses that try to deceive you.  Just be careful.

Horrible customer service! Called for an appointment to get the annual service on my heater (in September) and the Meenan employee (female) said the next available time would be in December. I expressed my disappointment and mentioned that I can't believe they are that busy. December rolls around and I get a call saying they need to reschedule my service to mid January. January rolls around and another call asking if I can wait until February as they are having a high number of service calls. I said I never had this problem with my former supplier, Ferro Oil, and her reply in a very arrogant tone was, "then why did you leave the other company, SIR!!!". (I didn't, they stopped delivering to my area.) Another time they almost let my tank go empty. I called and they said according to their records I shouldn't be out of oil and my guage is probably wrong. I banged on the tank and verified that it was almost empty. After several more calls over the course of 3 days I finally requested to speak with the manager. I asked how would their records indicate that I didn't need oil if I am a new customer and only had one fill? He replied that their computer tells them when to deliver more oil to a customer. He agreed with me and promised a delivery the next day. The total amount was 4 gallons shy of a full tank.
After my contract expired, I went with Brandywine Fuel for the service and price. Meenan is AWFUL! A big conglomerate out of New York that buys up the small oil delivery companies or squeezes them out of business. I still get calls from their sales people to come back. No chance on that.

In my opinion, Meenan is criminal in their practices.  I purchased a furnace for around $9000 10 years ago.  Due to shoddy inspections and maintenance being done, the furnace exploded and wound up melting to molten heap and put 3 inches of water in my basement.  Not to mention endangering my family and dog.  Meenan claimed no responsibility for the issue and gave me the number of the furnace manufacturer and suggested I should call them because Meenan (even though they recommended and installed this furnace) had no responsibility. Their solution was to buy another furnace for $9000 from the same vendor.  

After the incident happened, I did not hear from them for 2 1/2 months.  For all they knew, my family was with no heat, no water, hot or cold for that long.  When they did send someone to my house to inspect the damage, he was rude and insulting after rescheduling three times and being three hours late when he finally did show up, while looking for sympathy for a bad hot water heater at his house.  Saying this to me while my shoes are wet from the three inches of water Meenan's heater poured in to my basement.

I went out and had the heater replaced myself for $2500 and Meenan now wants to collect $250 for the annual maintenance fee for a heater that does not even exist due to their incompetence and this came from the General Manager of the company. 

If you are thinking about going with Meenan, please beware.  There are plenty of other oil companies out there that are not going out of business and have an idea about customer service and decency.

We have  only been a customer of Meenan since December 2016.  This is my first experience with oil heat and so far, I have been very happy with the service provided by Meenan.  We locked in a price at the variable rate which was very reasonable.  We had them remove a  propane tank from the property - they came out within a day of our call, and we have always had a pleasant experience with the customer service team.   We have been watching the tank to check to make sure we have oil and we have had to call Meenan, but each time we called, we were already on the schedule for a delivery.  

I have been extremely happy with their services thus far.

They deserve ZERO stars, but Google won't let me. They took over J.J. Skelton and this is two times in 30 days they've left us empty. We even called today telling them we're low to hopefully avoid running out like they did to us last time they said we are scheduled for a delivery. All day, no delivery...we called and they said they couldn't get to us because of too many emergency calls. Come 9:00 P.M., our oil runs out. Now we have to call Meenan for an emergency delivery...and last month they still didn't deliver until the next day! Terrible, absolutely terrible. J.J. Skelton was good, but Meenan is TERRIBLE!
