Starting out as a muffler shop we have expanded to a full service car repair shop that performs services from car ac repair to exhaust repair to tire changes at our tire shop. I could fill up a full novel with how overwhelmingly helpful this location has been over the many years that I’ve been coming exclusively to this location, Meineke in Portsmouth. Trying to keep this short, no matter how big or small or unknown your problem may be (or best place anywhere for routine maintenance/checks/changes/etc), and no matter what your level of vehicle knowledge may be, Matt and his team will not only give you the best value and highest quality/reliability of work, they’ll even help you understand exactly what’s going on and even help educate people on their various options so they can make the best decisions that work best for THE CUSTOMER, whether that’s financially or time-wise. This location specifically goes so far over and above on their customer service that OTHER places could learn a good lesson from them, not just mechanics but even customer-service-focused businesses, an aspect that many garages lose sight of by focusing more on profitability than doing what’s Right and Best for the customer. I’ve been coming here for everything for over a decade and save everyone I know both money and peace of mind by sending them to this location. As someone who used to tour the nation and experienced countless other garages, I’ve had a lot to compare to and this place goes indescribably above and beyond anywhere else, consistently. No matter whether you’re just passing through the area or if you’re looking for the most reliable trustworthy best garage to keep your car performing at its best, choose this location and you won’t ever need to look anywhere else again.

I've never reviewed anything in my life before, but felt compelled to do so after having my truck exhaust serviced for inspection here. I've never, EVER before been invited (without having to ask and subsequently receive an aggravated eye-roll) into the repair garage to visually review the issues from below with the vehicle on already up on the lifts, hear the recommended solutions, and go over, in detail, exactly what work was going to be done and how much each part would cost. Matt was as honest and genuine a mechanic as they come, and the rest of the crew I met were the same. As a customer, I truly appreciated it, and have never felt so good separating myself from a few hundred dollars. Kudos to those dudes for running a kick-ass, first-rate business.

As honest as they get! These guys really care for your safety and they will care for your car as if it were there own. They make sure your car is safe before you leave with it, and they will let you know and show you what is wrong if there is a problem. Thank you guys.

I went there a couple of months ago after it was recommended by another place that I would needed to get my brakes and rotors done beforehand.  I explained what the other mechanic said and that my mentioned that my car like to pull to the right when I was braking.  One of the mechanics took it out for a test drive and came back.  Matt told me it wasn't the brakes at all, and led me to the guy who had driven it.  Turns out the brakes were fine, it was the right control arm and the left tie rod that were causing the issues.  After giving the go-ahead to fix it, they even called to say they needed a particular nut to fix what the control arm attached to.

I've never taken my car to a mechanic that had then taken it for a test drive to nail down a problem that I attributed to something else.  My only regret is that I can only give them 5 stars.

I called this business to see about a used car pre-purchase inspection.  Matt was very polite but was closed on the day I was planning to look at the vehicle as it was a holiday weekend.  He listened to the type of shop I was looking for and made a recommendation that appears will work out.  Thanks!
