The worst! I was told on the phone that there was no charge for my first appointment then received a bill in the mail. Whoever answers the phones usually is terrible, I think her names Chelsea?

Went to outpatient care tried to explain the psychologist my issues he did not care about me or any issue I have been facing my whole life blamed every issue on marijuana that's been helping my stutter and tic that I try to explain tells me I'm wrong about myself when I smart enough to know my issues and need to explain. Instead leaves room two men walk in tell me doctor is backed act me no options so like nine men take me to ground and carry by my pants like an animal rip my shirt tell my wife she will be arrested for just trying to calm me throw her off property and im released the next day horrible place never ever take anyone here ever

Terrible facility. Sat in in-take room for 4-5 hours. Finally took me to my "pod" where there was a mixture of psychiatric patients - some talked to themselves, some made sexual comments and advances toward me. I honestly felt like I was in "One Flew Over the Coo Coo's Nest." I take 10-12 meds a night, some include heart meds, no meds given the first night. Can't stay in your room away from the crazy people as that is a sign of being withdrawn and depressed and prolongs your stay. I went in at 6 pm Monday, got released 1 p.m. Thursday. Spent maybe 1.5 hours with Psychiatric P.A. and had one 1-hour group session with a therapist every day. There is so much more that the professionals could do for the patients - so much more. Stay away from Pod #3, that is where the truly crazy people who do not have any mental faculties about them are kept - and they are free to walk around the common areas and other pods. Many of the staff resemble drill sergeants and do nothing but yet, and the other, I watched people as for stuff and they were told "later, I'm busy" and later never came. One nurse, Sara, was the first and one of the only people who treated me with respect and didn't act like all my marbles were loose. Honestly, I think jail would have been a more pleasant experience that this place. Had to give a rating of one star or it wouldn't let me post my review. I would give it maybe a 1/2 star based on my experience on days 3 and 4 when staff actually learned my name and learned I wasn't crazy, that I just had a bit of a mental breakdown.

Do not let your child be transported here, or any reason! My son was seen at OPMC ER as his depression meds were not working and he was having suicidal thoughts. He was transferred to this nightmare facility at midnight and, upon arrival, told, "We don't have a bed for him" even though they had communicated just the opposite with OPMC staff. The ambulance went back to OPMC and my son just laid in the back until the two hospitals could get their paperwork together. The next morning, a nurse called and said the suggested time of stay was 5 to 7 days, and that even though he was sent involuntarily, his status would be changed to voluntary. We agreed to the duration, as he needed new meds and supervision for that change. The first phone call we received from our son, he was crying uncontrollably. The staff was rude, he said, a lot of the kids there were brought in by the police and were acting out, attacking others physically and verbally - he wanted to come home. How sad that instead of receiving mental health care, he was subject to delinquents brought in by the authorities. He has now been a patient for 4 days, is miserable because of the jail-like atmosphere and rude techs. My husband phoned and asked for our son to be discharged and was told, "The psych just arrived and we will have him call you." An hour later, we phoned back and was told, "The psych is gone for the day and he is the only one who can start the discharge process." An hour later? That's a really short work day! The male, I won't call him gentleman as he was very rude, first refused to speak to my husband, "I can only speak to the child's mother" even though both of us are on his paperwork and consent forms. Then, Steve proceeds to tell us, "Well you agreed to 5 to 7 days." Yes, I did, BEFORE my child was subject to behavior that a depressed person should not have to deal with. My husband kept insisting, "We are coming to get our son" and Steve insisted that we did not have that right. We have met one person at this facility, the counselor who facilitated our group session, who even remotely acted as if they were concerned about our child. From the gruff, rude male who lets you in the visitors door, to the female tech who falls asleep during visitation then snaps to just in time to yell at you for touching your child. Then there are the techs (nurses, whatever they are) who curse like sailors and treat these kids as if they are in jail. Maybe some of those kids should be, but mine is there for depression and is not getting help for that, other than medications which can be obtained elsewhere. If you are looking for inpatient mental health treatment, do yourself a favor and bypass this place. We are still waiting for a phone call to let us know we can go get our son - at this point he is being held against both his and our will - and truly wish we had not consented to his admission here.9

Hardly an actual mental health facility -- at least, on the minor side. The baker act hold is extended past the 3-day hold in almost ALL cases ( in my case of simple depression I was held for four days ) and the psychiatrist is hardly there to see patients but for ten minutes per patient per stay. Meanwhile, technicians patrol the unit floors and often sit there and mingle with the other techs while patients are left there doing little to nothing more than crafting friendship bracelets and watching television. A mental hospital and a psych ward isn't meant to be a week-long camp, MHCJ! You should know that! Your nurses are underqualified and your techs do little more than dawdle around while patients rot while they wait for their discharge that should've happened more than several days ago!
