First note to self: never order sushi at a Mexican restaurant. Tacos durados were delicious as well as the tamarindo drink but the sushi roll was dry and they used hard rice that wasn’t anything near a sushi rice. Good atmosphere with outside seating on a good weather day. Do not get the appetizer chili guerito it was so slimy filled with shrimp and wrapped with bacon. I’ve never had a slim chili.
Don't expect to have an authentic sushi roll here, it was more like a Mexican rice roll with proteins and cheese on top. Ask for the updated menus, as our final check was different from the prices in the menu. Ceviche and Teriyaki bowl were good.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: NoTakeout: YesCurbside pickup: Yes
Omg! Sushi Mexican style!!! The best sushi I’ve tried in Boston plus Mexican flavors, you won’t find other place like this with original and authentic dishes, the portion size were amazing the staff super friendly, everything clean, the Jamaica drink delicious, even if you are not sushi lover definitely you should come!!! Don’t miss it please!!
The cheff is super nice but the waiter always has a rude face and he talks with attitude, there is a lot of flies inside the restaurant so it definitely needs a little cleaning, other than that the food is great and very fillingFood: 4/5
I was walking around in the neighborhood and decided to get some takeout from here. Service was friendly enough, but when I just asked a question about a menu item, the server went and put an order in. I decided it wasn't a big deal so I waited outside. When my order was ready the waitress took my card and swiped it, and didn't let me use the screen on the POS to tip, and instead gave herself a 20% tip, which came out to over $5 for a takeout order that only consisted of one dish. Maybe she's worried about paying bills but being deceitful and manipulative is no way to treat customers. I ended up getting the wrong order anyway, which had seafood in it. Unfortunately, I'm allergic and had to throw it all in the trash. What a waste of time and money.
Had a great experience! Loved the food and drinks.Food: 5/5
Very interesting spin on sushi. The fried/baked cheese-shrimp-beef roll was unique but tasty. Staff is very friendly as well.
La Piñata is open right in front of Maverick Square in Eastie with great cocktails and outdoor seating. Well priced authentic Mexican food too, that's coming from a fellow Mexican. With East Boston becoming SO gentrified and with more generic or "high end" restaurants pushing out local establishments, this is a delicious place to visit and support a local business.
We stopped for a very late dinner. We had the Chillis Gueritos, San Felipe, and the Tampico. The food was creative and good. It was not really sushi. The rolls we chose lacked real fish, and we did not see much sushi fish on the menu. But, the flavors and preparation were excellent. Wanted to try their civiche, bet it was great. The ambiance was excellent. Kid-friendliness: Yes, but we were alone in the restaurant.
Unique and delicious sushi alternative. I tried the Frontera and BBQ lover's rolls. I had assumed they'd be smaller, similar to the 8-piece orders I usually receive, but each roll was rather large and two was too many for me. I was given a plate with some chipotle sauce, barbecue sauce, and soy sauce. The soy sauce seemed to almost have an extra ingredient to give it a tiny bit of heat. The bacon used in both rolls was fun, which is something I often do at home when rolling my own. The deep fried roll Frontera was something I wasn't confident about at first, but had a really nice crispy outside to it. As a non-native visitor to the area, it was a fun find and a unique take on sushi. Rolls were priced around $13-$18 each.
