Story

Mid Coast Hospital is a 93-bed community, non-profit hospital with an active medical staff of over 200 physicians serving a population of over 80,000 area residents. Mid Coast Hospital offers inpatient services such as a 24-hour Emergency Department, ICU, Medical/Surgical/Pediatrics, Behavioral Health unit, and a separate Women's Health Care unit concentrating on childbirth at its Maternity Care Center and Gynecological Services center. Outpatient services include Day Surgery, Laboratory, Diagnostic Imaging (including the most advanced CT, PET scans and MRI), Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy, and a Hearing Center.

Accredited by The Joint Commission, Mid Coast is also a Magnet facility.

Misery inducing wait times. We went here for a simple ultrasound instead of Portland where we usually go in hopes of saving some time. Instead we were shuttled into a tiny understaffed registration office where we waited cramped in with a pile of other patients, only to be given a form and told to wait again. The appointment was at 2, it's almost three now. Portland would have taken less time even with the extra drive. Receptionist barely cares, nurses nowhere to be seen. There is no point in coming here, just got to Portland and get faster, better care. This place is a waste.

Staff took good, thorough care of me on the worst day of my life. Got admitted just before shift change, my attending physician brought in the attending taking over my care to introduce us in person and ensure everyone knew what was going on. Promptly got pain medication, was kept up to date on tests and results. Both my attending physician and nurses took the time to explain everything to me in detail and ensure I understood the course of action to be taken. Everyone I came into contact with was very compassionate with me, and I was respectful and understanding of them, (as much as I could be, considering how much pain I was in. However once my pain was manageable and the ED got flooded with people in considerably worse condition than I, it's understandable that I was a little lower on the priority levels). My attending was extremely thorough and knowledgable. Though I'm sure not every doctor there is as amazing, I feel that for the most part, the staff as a whole was impressive. I got the best possible care and was well looked after. Overall, I feel happy with the experience, I felt adequately cared for during the worst several hours of my life, and I'm quite impressed with the staff I had contact with.

I cannot say enough about the doctors, nurses and staff at Mid Coast Hospital. Their knowledge, professionalism, and communication are unmatched.

Horrible place to bring your loved ones there is little to no organization and the slowest patient care I have ever seen DONT GO HERE

Several bad experiences throughout my years of recieving care. Told to try benadryl when I nearly had pneumonia. Extreme abdominal pain and vomiting was treated with pepto and bedrest while I passed a gallstone. More personal grievances I will not bring up because the lack of compassion... The lack of communication led to unnecessary expensive ultrasounds and I almost bled to death...
And just recently a concern arose and my doctor told me to wait it out and see what happens...

I'm switching to a local practice in my area.

This hospital has taken over this area and gives nothing but bad practice.. Shameful.
