I took my son here to kill some time. It was quite cool and I would've given it 5 stars but the grumpy old guy with the conductor hat killed my good time and we left after this. There are a couple tracks set up where you can control the direction and speed of the trains. My 6 year old was having a grand time running these trains at full speed until the old guy came by and had a fit about the speed. We inquired about why they were set up for public use at high speeds if there was some issue about using them like this (there were no signs or directions telling us otherwise) but he seemed so pre-occupied with making sure "his" trains were okay that he never answered. I couldn't believe he was in charge of the trains acting like that! Otherwise, it was great. They ask for a donation, which I gave but it isn't required. These people have a fun, laid back job. Makes me wonder why the conductor was so unhappy.

I thoroughly enjoyed this museum. It has grown since the last time I saw it. The staff, who I was told are volunteers were friendly and informed. I really enjoyed talking to Pat about the displays and the history of the museum. I would recommend a trip to the museum as something to see on the Gulf Coast.

Friendly knowledgeable staff. Great displays. It's free. Donations excepted. Wonderful time. Great for small children. They have a train you can ride.

Outstanding place to take the little ones! There are miles of model trains with amazing landscapes in both traditional and Lego formats - definitely ask about the scavenger hunt, and more trains outside to ride on surrounded by whimsical gardens. Add on the potential for STEM-based teachable moments and it's practically perfect. They will host parties too!!

What a great place to take the kids for a fun afternoon! They have amazing displays and train rides. They also host Birthday Parties and special events. It's amazing that can operate on donations. The volunteers are wonderful. Admission is free so it's in everyone's budget.
