Some of the food can be hit or miss, however! Always in point is the short ribs of beef, greens, yams and cornbread!  My only reason for 3 stars is the wait times for food already prepared and sitting in pots is much too long, also not taking credit cards is a huge inconvenience, especially since the banks are not close to her. The staff is a friendly bunch and personable too. And Mrs. Mitchell is a delightful southern lady.

Amazing service- genuinely friendly people and a homey atmosphere that is honestly rare in the city. Don't expect things to be rushed- come if you want homemade food and some time to hang out. It got the seal of approval from my southern-raised, master-chef of a Granny, which does NOT happen often.

Absolutely Amazing!!!! This is the Soul Food place I've been searching for!!!!!! It taste just like a southern grandparents home!!!! Everything tastes perfect!!!! Customer service is excellent and really homely. You'll feel like grandpa and grandma called you to get the first plate and they are heavy on the southern "twang". I Love It 😍 The food is fresh so you might want to call ahead to shorten your wait, but the atmosphere is nice and cozy so it's a cool place to chat while waiting. By far, there is no better soul food restaurant in Brooklyn (I am a foodie, so I have been to many eateries). I wish they were open everyday!!!!! Catch the lunch specials before 4 for really great deal!!!! If they are pushing you to order around 3:45pm it's only so that you can get a huge discount; isn't that sweet!

Mac and Cheese was terrible, ribs were horrible, only thing that was good on my plate was the corn bread

The Chicken was Tasty service was Great even though there was such a rude customer behind me THE CORNBREAD WAS AMAZING and the Mac and Cheese was okay all for $10
