A fantastic atmosphere: the restaurant is decorated very nicely (see the other pictures!) and they even serve your water in really nice goblet looking glasses. The food is prepared by a Czech couple who make everything by hand in authentic European style. A great place for a date or for a fancy meal with friends. Go check it out! You won't regret it.

Ordered Serbian Goulash for main course and Raspberry Dumpling for dessert; both were knocked out of the ballpark! I was promptly seated and was offered bar or table; I chose bar since I went alone. The bar area is much more lit than the main dining area. Lovely violin music was played in the background that added to the already lovely atmosphere. The food was super delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere lovely; I live and travel for places like this........

Such a nice atmosphere. The food was fantastic and proportioned perfectly. The staff, including the owner, went out of their way to accommodate us. Including singing happy birthday after our waiter told us that its wasn't something they typically do. I highly recommend the place and guarantee that we'll be back again some day.

Great intimate place to eat some excellent authentic European food. The chef packs and smokes the sausage by hand at home. I bet his neighborhood smells awesome. Service was also top notch.

Foodie's paradise! Monastery Restaurant is the BEST restaurant in downtown Norfolk. They make the best old world food! It really takes me back to Prague! We were even personally catered to by the Chef. This was a experience that truly took me back to a old small town Europe. Do not try to rush through a meal here, this a place to sit and enjoy a very good meal. Great spot for a romantic date! You will not be rushed through any portion of you meal. Most of all do not forget to try the deserts, the are heaven sent!
