I went here my freshmen year before transferring. The campus is beautiful. Academics were alright... but the dynamic of the population was odd. I felt as though I had to apologize for being a straight white male whenever I walked through campus. Don't get me wrong I'm all for the whole LGBT movement and everything... but lets not forget that being straight is OK too for god sakes. Also the whole dry campus thing is BS if you ask me. We just left campus to drink so it didn't accomplish anything aside from inconveniencing us. I ended up transferring to Boston University and I feel as though I fit in better on that campus.

They increase salaries for management employees every year but not for teachers, they complaining to students all the time. Academically is not the best. This school is run by liberal agenda ideology. Promotes rape culture, and you will feel a lot of pressure if you are a straight male, you will feel target all the time. Nice campus.

What a pathetic excuse for a school. Village apartments are DISGUSTING and IT department is incompetent. Wish I could give it negative stars

The campus itself is beautiful. Classes and professors are great with a wide selection to choose from and most are actually pretty helpful. The two stars are for the awful lack of parking plus the price you pay for parking, lack of shuttles, (you would think with the amount you pay in tuition there wouldn't be over 100 students waiting to crowd onto a shuttle bus in the cold). Also for the EVEN MORE TERRIBLE student accounts, registrar and down right garbage financial aid office. Not helpful WHATSOEVER. They never answer the phone, they're slow with email responses but interestingly enough you're quick to get an email when you owe money or a hold will be put on your account when you do. But they don't ever answer the phone for you to handle your account before deadlines. They also always seem to have an attitude when they do answer or if you go there like "why are you even here". Montclair charges ridiculous little fees on your bill so do yourself the favor and definitely don't dorm. Not a bad school but these offices that are paid to help you, are such a headache and will make your time here frustrating along with the crazy prices for parking and parking nazis that will ticket/boot your car. Beware!!

Are you trying to save money (as a state resident) or build good connections? If it's the former, then MSU is an option. However, if it's the latter, consider other colleges. Personally, I did not have to worry about the latter.
