Story

The Monterey Bay Aquarium has attracted more than 47 million visitors and has won awards for its exhibits, architecture, and cultural and educational impacts. We’re located on historic Cannery Row in Monterey and open daily except Christmas. Hours vary by season. Daily schedules available at www.montereybayaquarium.org or by calling (831) 648-4888.

Absolutely love the aquarium! Went on a Thursday where it wasn't too busy, but had many kids running around with a school field trip. Still was nice to see all the excited kids. Population area is definitely the jellyfish area. It lights up and shows off the beauty of the creatures. Has an area that also has some great history about Cannery Row. Has a restaurant in house and plenty of restaurants nearby. Lots of fun!

This is my favorite aquarium that I have visited. The signage is wonderful. You actually have a good sense of what animals you are looking at and how the space models their natural habitat. The aquarium appears to be really centered on both education and conservation, quite unlike some others I've visited whose stated mission is "entertainment". The aquarium makes a wonderful use of the natural environment and seeks to harmonize with surroundings rather than simply existing there. Well worth a visit!

Crowded and expensive, but you must see this aquarium, it's worth it. It's one of the best in the world. The exhibits are educational and informative Great for kids and families. There is a gift shop and cafe. You will spend hours here, and if you want some air, just walk outside and enjoy the view, but if you leave the aquarium get your hand stamped for quick re-entry. Monterey itself is beautiful and you will enjoy the city and the restaurants they have. The bay and wildlife are right in front of you, you will see sea otters, sea lions and even whales. Gorgeous place and you should see it at least once in your lifetime. Go! Preferably on a weekday when the crowds are not as huge.

A great aquarium with impressive fish tanks. The entrance fee is high (50 dollars for grown up) but we found it worth every penny. We were able to entertain our self all day. Furthermore, the aquarium is very much involved in keeping the local ocean healthy. All in all a great experience on a rainy day :).

One of my children's favorite places to go.  One of my wife's favorite aquariums in the country.  I get to see my wife and children full of joy and excitement because of this place and I love all the displays as well.  There are also a bunch of great seafood restaurants around the aquarium and beach access around the corner.  All this adds up a to a wonderful full day to be planned and experienced!  There is no way anyone can have a bad time, heck there are even a few places in walking distance dedicated to sweets so you can wrap the day up with dessert.

All of the staff of the aquarium know much more then just their assigned exhibit and they all the schedule of events memorized so they can direct you to the best possible course of navigating through the aquarium along with suggestions on the different shows like the penguin feeding!
