Monty's Blue Plate Diner serves breakfast all day, every day. Our menu features incredible burgers, sandwiches, salads, vegetarian and vegan selections. Our award-winning pies, cakes, cupcakes and cookies are made from scratch daily.

Community is a vital aspect of Monty’s. We recognize that our customers, especially those that live and work near Monty’s, are key to our success. We feel that one of the best ways to give back is to support businesses that are part of our larger community. By buying local, we are able to keep our community at the forefront of our operations.

Our food philosophy has always been grounded in home-made, from scratch, comfort food. Food that everyone’s grandma used to make (and still does). With that in mind, we feel that by buying products grown locally, in sustainable and environmentally conscious ways, we are returning to the way we used to eat. And always, when dealing with food, quality is crucial. All the products we select are chosen because we feel they are of superior quality and offer our customers a wonderful dining experience.

We tried Monty's Blue Plate Diner for the first time today and we were not disappointed.  We had the mushroom burger and the chicken in a pie.  Both were excellent dishes prepared perfectly.  We arrived a little after 12 p.m. and had about a 15 minute wait which we thought was reasonable. They seem to have a knack for moving people in and out very quickly which is nice.  We will definitely go back.

It was my first try for Monty’s Blue Plate Diner, and I and my group had a pleasant surprise with their quality services and foods. We were able to feel that this diner truly cares about the customers satisfaction.

We went there around 1 pm and waited for 30 minutes to get a seat. While it was 5 minutes longer waiting time than we were informed, the general manager handed us the menus, so we can reduce the time at the table. 

Through the menu, we learned that Monty's uses the ingredients from local farms and manufacturers. Most of the plates served at Monty's had an option for Gluten Sensitive customers, and there were a fair number of food choices for vegans and vegetarians.

We ordered Monty’s Breakfast Sandwich, Bistro Burger, and Tex-Mex Omelet. All the ingredients were fresh, and the foods were properly made in the right order. I would say waffle fries and goat cheese were particularly awesome. I emptied my plate before even realizing I am full, or getting tired. 

The service was fabulous and the server was a true professional. Although the diner was extremely busy, we were not rushed, and the waiter was calm. I would recommend Monty’s Blue Plate Diner to anyone who visits Madison!

Our waitress was so understanding.  I was with my kids are a 3 and 4, it was mid afternoon, and they were hungry! The kids Mac and cheese was so good! The kitchen was sweet enough to cut my kids French toast into sticks too!

Interesting menu. Good vegan selections. Fair gluten free options. Half hr wait to be seated. Good food, prepared well and served within 15 min. of orders. Good service. Even saw prom dates here. Most items in $7 to $12 range. Breakfast options also available at lunch & dinner. Across from drama & music theater.

I ate at Monty's for the first time a few days ago and it was excellent. Food is excellent and the service is great! Lots of options to choose from and they offer plenty of gluten free variations. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area.
