Owners are great people, but the CG is a work in progress. Some of the 'permanent' guests have very old campers and cluttered sites. Great price for the coast.

Moonlight Lake RV Park and Cottages is a great hidden gem of a place to kick back out of the city of New Bern and yet be close to the historic sights and restaurants and parks. The owners are a cool couple and were a great help for me when my check in date kept setting back due to delays in getting on the road. They didn't charge me for days I had committed to being here but didn't make it. They gave me the Passport America discount even with late check in and they gave me retired military discount and were very friendly about it. The site I was in had electric, water, cable and sewer hook up. All worked great. When I didn't know how to get the cable working for my rig - they explained the process - it was me not them - program the TV for the new cable. The park is clean and neat. The pads for parking the rig are gravel or crush and run - nice not being in the dirt. There is a great bath house with shower facilities that are clean and restrooms for those not equipped. They have laundry machines too. It is quiet with good people staying here. A mix of travelers and some that are here long term. Don't expect much when looking for the lake. (Moonlight Lake) It is a pond that is not big and not very scenic - but it does have fish. I enjoyed my stay here very much. It is a great place if you like it calm and quiet and simple. I will stay here again one day in my travels. Oh - I chose this place over the KOA place near here due to more than 20 dollars difference in price a night and the other place listed too many restrictions. It was a 12 minute drive to Down Town New Bern from here. Perfect for being in the country and close to the city.

Stayed in the getaway suite and thought it was very nice and well worth $75/night over 4th of July weekend. Very comfortable and centrally located between New Bern and Oriental (closer to New Bern). Very quiet and the owner and manager were super nice and helpful. I didn't come in an RV so I can't speak to some of the issues that other reviewers raised, but the road going through the park was not rutty at all (in fact it was in great shape) and the driveways all seemed to be fine. The place could use some trees, but that can't happen overnight. If I were an RV traveler, I would rather park here than at a KOA. At a place like that you pay so much more for amenities (gift store, arcade, housekeeping etc) that are mostly utilized by cabin campers. The getaway suite is very spacious and super nice....the bed may be the best I've ever found at any hotel or resort. I slept like a baby.
