We are NYC's premier GREEN moving company, providing local and long distance moves for residents and offices. Our trucks run on biodiesel, and we offer reusable bins. For over 16 years and 20,000 moves, we keep your move stress-free and under control.
Throughout your life, there are many steps that you may take from neighborhoods to different cities. From the quaint town to big time. After 15 years of serving residencies and businesses in and around New York City, we will be there with you along the way to make sure you keep moving forward.
Our founder, Mark Ehrhardt, started New York's premier green moving company, Movers, Not Shakers! with a single truck to move friends and relatives. After working with the community and growing his loyal team over the years, we have become the new industry standard with our cutting-edge methods.
We Are Green!
Movers, Not Shakers! is changing the way moving is done. We have pursued eco-friendly methods to reduce the carbon footprint of your move. The extensive waste that is produced by moving only adds to the hassle of the experience. Our approach has successfully turned moving into a more positive experience for clients and our community.
Leading Forms of Carbon Offset
Biodiesel, not Gas!
We are one of the few licensed moving companies to be using biodiesel in our fleet of trucks. Biodiesel is a clean, renewable, and carbon-neutral alternative to petroleum fuel that cuts emissions by as much as 80%. It is rapidly biodegradable, non-toxic, and ultimately better for our health. Our provider, Tri-State Biodiesel, collects cooking oil from local restaurants, refines it, and provides us with the clean alternative.
Gotham Boxes™, not Cardboard!
Imagine packing a bin with a hinged lid that requires NO TAPE TO MAKE INTO A BOX. Easy, right? Gotham Boxes™ are reusable bins that we provide for you to pack up your belongings in a more efficient and eco-friendly manner. Call us and we will help you determine how many you need. Then, approximately one week before your move, we will drop off the Gotham Boxes™ to your door. They arrive clean, with a fresh piece of blue painter’s tape on each one for easy labeling. On move day, we wrap your furniture and move the bins. Give us a call after the move and we’ll come pick up the empty bins.
Recycling, not Garbage!
With the help of our partners, Lower East Side Ecology Center and Wearable Collections, all discarded electronics and textiles are recycled. E-waste is responsible for 70% of the toxins found in landfills despite providing only 1% of their volume and the textile industry is one of the leading producers of greenhouse gases. We help to reduce this number by dropping off bags from Wearable Collections in advance of our moves. On the day of your move, we collect your discarded materials and donate them to our partners.
Flat Rate, not Hourly!
We want to be movers, not shakers because we won’t shake your stuff, obviously, but more importantly, we won’t shake you down for a higher price either. With our flat rate, you will receive an honest price without the additional fees and hidden costs. You won’t have to worry about traffic time, tolls, gas, or any other additional costs.
In New York City, time has value unlike anywhere else. That’s why hourly companies have no incentive to finish on time, whereas with our method, we perform the job as efficiently as possible. With the magnitude of your move being understood right from the start, our service will reduce the stress you will face with an hourly rate company.
Our experienced sales team will work with you to provide an estimate based on all the belongings you are moving. We understand how important your things are, so we will give you a quote that reflects the care you need.
If you haven’t tried us before, you owe it yourself to move forward with Movers, Not Shakers!
