Mrs. Backers is a Family run Bakery that has been in the family for more than 70 Years! We Bake from Scratch, we don't cut corners because we eat it too!

Story

Mrs. Backers Pastry Shop was opened in 1941 by Martin Backer. His Son and Daughter-in-law currently run the Show along with two of their children. The Backers come from a long line of Bakers that came to Salt Lake City in 1926. We want to make the same high quality beautiful desserts that we learned from our fathers. We make everything from Danish to Cookies, Cakes to Éclairs and we love that this brings us to your home and your big life events. It's an honor to be trusted by each of our customers!

Their raspberry cream cheese cookies are my favorite! We tried a meat pie and a few pastries and they were tasty too. Their small selection of gifts and do-dads are unique and adorable. A bit pricey, but it feels like a step back in time walking in there.

Mrs. Backer's is a Salt Lake treasure. It's been around forever and has held onto traditions of excellence and great service. There is always a good variety of baked goods, and they're always yummy. The cakes are works of art. I stop in once a week on my day off for one of their little triangle cakes, and it's something I look forward to all week. Most of my family birthdays and other occasions over the years have included a Mrs. Backer's cake.

Girlfriend got sick eating here. I don't know what they pay their workers but it's probably far too low to ensure motivated workers that wash their hands and follow health and safety procedures properly. Low paid workers=apathetic workers. And apathetic workers take shortcuts. She was on the toilet for 20 minutes sick to her stomach after eating here. They ought to fire most of the staff, and replace them with better ones, and pay them more so they take the job more seriously. I've worked in food service for years and you only get food poisoning when people don't follow health and safety procedures. We're never coming back and we'd advise everyone to stay away.

I have loved this place for years. There is no better place for cakes. The intricate detail and flavors are amazing. There really is no other bakery like Mrs. Bakers.🌺

It is a tradition for our family to get birthday cakes from this delicious bakery every year. They also made my mom's wedding cake, 40 something years ago. Good things were meant to last.
