DORS ruined my life. I was a client from 2009-2016 and finally decided to stop receiving support from them in the summer of 2016 after my old counselor Ms. Nadiyah Jones left around October 2015. I was introduced to their services during my junior year at Parkville High in early 2009. I naively thought if I stuck with DORS that I would have a good job with or without a college degree. Instead, I was given a short term internship after finishing high school, referred to a job search agency known as JCS which didn't do much to help me discouraging me from finding another job and ended up with a lifetime of unemployment. I didn't even bother to finish my medical billing and coding program at CCBC because I knew I would not land a job with DORS help even if I finished and became certified. When another counselor took over who seemed to care less that I was going through personal problems and was only concerned about collecting a paycheck, I didn't even keep my follow up appointment with her and wrote a letter saying I would no longer be receiving their services. Meghan Khan was trying to put me in an Autism jobs program that was gonna take me right back where I started. I was about to be 24 and wasn't going through that hassle anymore. I should've given up on DORS back in 2012 and just did what I really wanted to do with my life instead of what they wanted me to do. DORS is a very unreliable vocational rehab program. Now I know why my last counselor quit. She probably realized most of her clients didn't get very far or weren't where they wanted to be. The only reason why they're still around is because they're state funded.
DORS has constantly failed to do their more then once. Now instead of NEVER hearing from my DORS rep since our first meeting/being passed to another organization, now they have a virtual assistant named SARA. DORS should have all funding removed! Update: To the person who replied. This isn't the first time DORS has failed to do their job. So no I will not waste my time anymore DORS and NOBODY wants SARA. Especially the spammy texts and emails I keep getting about it.
Never responded until I bring in state of MD dors
