Located in Lincoln Nebraska on the Speedway Motors campus, the Museum of American Speed is one of Nebraska's best kept secrets and has a large collection of unique, one of a kind racing engines, automobilia, pedal cars, and toys.

The Museum of American speed is quite a conglomeration of some small medium and large collections of various things. Yes there is a bunch of Indy and open-wheel race cars that are displayed wonderfully and laid out in a very spacious Museum it must be several hundred thousand square feet. Then there's a nice collection of model T era stuff including the five millionth Model T ever built. The museum is built with lots of love and includes collections of children's push carts I should say pedal carts and they are an overwhelming collection. In the stairwell they had a collection of over 600 lunch boxes. What that has to do with speed I'll never know. They had a wonderful collection of hood ornaments it was impressive. They had an unbelievable collection intake manifold. Never have I seen so many manifolds wall mounted on the wall several hundred in a minimum. Then they say they have a Bonneville and a drag racing section, but with only three or four Dragsters and four or five streamliners I think it's just a small grouping. Let's see and then there were the midget racers they had an interesting collection of midgets and that was nice. There was another room that had soap box derby cars and a short video of the finals in the 1936 I believe World Championships. I'm sure I've left off many things as this place is overwhelmingly huge, and I had to stop I couldn't take any more Museum that day after a couple hours of walking around being incredibly overwhelmed. I think it's a must-see museum for any enthusiast they'll be something for everybody and be prepared have lunch first and then go for it

It's hard to describe how great this place is. A collection so large that you can spend days (plural) just walking around and you probably won't be able to see it all. Rare sports cars, race cars of every class from about every era, motors on display, etc. The memorabilia showcased here is without a doubt the best in the world. If it relates to cars or racing, you can expect it to be on display here. HIGHLY recommend checking this place out.

Plan to be here a while. This place is huge. If you like to read about what you are looking at, you could spend all day here. They have every genre of race cars and then some. Guitars signed by famous racing people (on the ceiling), pedal cars, album covers from music featuring cars, classic toys, lunch boxes and much, much more. Three floors jam packed. They had to kick us out when they closed for the day.

Any motorsports, speed, racing, automotive and history enthusiast will have his or her expectations exceeded, regardless of how high those expectations may be. Such an incredible display of history and presented in a grand professional manner. Proud to have this in my hometown.
