Story

The Museum of Ontario Archaeology features a museum, park grounds, and the Lawson archaeological site - an ancient Indigenous village settlement dating to ca 1500 AD. The Museum's galleries display a collection of Ontario’s archaeological discoveries. The Museum offers educational programs, events and summer and PD Day camps that all contribute to the Museum's aim of encouraging visitors to learn about archaeology and the many peoples and cultures that have shaped the rich heritage of Ontario and Canada.

Love this museum! Very interesting exhibits, artwork and artifacts. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, even offering our family a mini guided tour as we came late in the day and missed the last tour. The longhouse is very well maintained and interactive; my son had a great time climbing up and pretending to sleep. And the forest trails behind are beautiful and provided a great walk after our museum visit. We'll definitely be back soon!

Myself and my 14 year old daughter were visiting Canada from Ireland and loved this museum.  The staff were all super friendly and helpful, especially Angie.  While it's not very big, that's part of its charm.  The Virtual Reality exhibit allows you a fantastic opportunity to get a sense of life in the Long Houses for First Nation people, and the reproductions outside enhances and deepens this experience.  Make an effort to find them, and I encourage the Museum staff to continue to try to get better signage!

We came to London for the day and stayed the night because the roads had been so bad with the unshoveled snow and drifts. We wanted to make the most of our stay and see something out of the ordinary. Anything historical or informative came to our minds. Never knew this place existed until I punched in 'Tourism London Ontario' into a search engine. Pretty cool place and a fair amount you can learn about the province. There was a VR room but the IT person was not in that day to fix it so we couldn't view (it was supposed to be a hut, or a long house I believe). Regardless we enjoyed our visit. The trail down the ravine along the creek was snow laden and incredibly peaceful. A few shoeshoeing passed us by. Will likely be back in the summer and see the virtual simulation room and to see the outdoor Lawson Site, out back of the museum.

Great educational venue. Reason for only 3 stars, it appeared to be a self guiding tour. Wished there were staff to consult and field questions. (I went on a Sunday) That day, they had a Power Wow...great dancers

Great history lesson but please include more about the theft of land, res schools and continued mistreatment of first Nations people
